Wade: 'Not possible' for LeBron to surpass MJ

Dwyane Wade believes that no matter how many different things Lebron accomplishes in his career, trying to surpass Jordans's legacy is a fool's errand.

"No, it's not possible," Wade told ESPN with a laugh. "It's not possible."

And in other news the Pacific Ocean is full of salt water.

Try telling that to the fans of the Atlantic - they seem to think there's more salt in their ocean

Lebron probably told him to say that bc he probably believes the same. MJ was Lebrons' idol as well

He can only equal MJ, not surpass him. Makes sense.

I see where you're going with this- but I think coming to the same conclusion as Wade on this point is pretty easy when we consider LBJ has already established a losing record in the Finals- with father time right around the corner.

And before you get all bent outta shape because I'm using Finals records as a supporting factor- it is an MJ accolade that is most coveted that surely LBJ would have to surpass to be considered "better" than MJ.

I'll leave the rest of your post alone... but I can certainly agree with this.

Wade is obviously not alone. There are plenty of people outside of Chicago that agree with him... I mean its the majority opinion.

Also one of Lebron's besties and former teammates No?

I mean... :stephena:

Exactly. I was just pointing it out because I imagine people are going to want to jump all over this and say "even his best friend in the NBA" has this opinion. I think its fair to point out that Wade has strong allegiances on both sides.

He was a kid in Chicago in the 90's and currently plays for the Bulls. Its not a surprising statement, even considering his history with LeBron.

I like to see it as someone with common sense pointing out an obvious fact.

Has to be more to it, though, or you wouldn't have found it to be newsworthy and thread-worthy, right?

The comment is more signifigant than if Jimmy Butler or Jeff Van Gundy or almost anyone else had said it... because of Wade's relationship to LeBron.

Fact is Lebron will never go undefeated in the Finals. Even if he wins 7, he's still not the GOAT. He hasn't hit the big shots Jordan hit. He didn't get beat down by the Pistons for years to get 6 rings either. In a much more physical league back then.

Seeing that MJ did this with such an "inferior cast" (i hear alot about how Scottie was overrated), don't come back with the Lebron had no talent around him.

And it's not MJ's fault he actually stayed with one team for the majority of his career either. Perhaps if Bron stays in Cleveland, he lures better players there and has a better record in the Finals.

6-0 in the Finals with 2 years in AA baseball hitting .194

Haha... I love how getting beat down by the Pistons for years is a plus for MJ, while beating down the Pistons for years is a blemish for LeBron.

I'm starting to see what you were talking about, @CitySushi. Nostalgia is not an easy thing to go up against.

So you are comparing the bad boys to the who boys? What a homer you are. The Pistons molded Jordan into what a beast. Lebron has jumped all over the league creating his own super team.

Lebron doesn't even have one 3 peat. Jordan has 2 and quite possibly could have run off 8 in a row.

Jordan is the clear GOAT. You don't have to convince me of that.

And, no, I'm not comparing the Pistons. It doesn't matter how good you think the Bad Boy Pistons were or how bad you think Chauncey's Pistons were... its still silly to put Jordan's repeated early playoff exits in the positive column while putting LeBron's 2007 Finals loss in the negative column.

Well I was just covering all basis in my post about my supporting factor since it was a debate that seemed to go on for pages on another thread. :D
