Someone break the tampons out! A lot of pissing a moaning going on here. A couple things if I may:
1. Yes, Votto has under-performed for what Votto usually brings to the table. Can't be perfect all the time....would you rather have Pujols and his contract/performance?
2. Most teams in MLB would suck our collective balls to have Votto....
3. Votto is the 2nd best 1st baseman in MLB right now in average....#1 in OBP....middle of the pack in HR's and RBI's. Once again, it's obvious he hasn't been the clutch Votto we have grown used to but ya don't swat at a bad pitch in an effort to drive in a run. You take your walk as a "smart" batter and rely on your team to get it. You don't force the issue being a team game folks. Hence the accuracy of the comment made above about Phillips and his performance year to date.
4. He has the 3rd most RBI's on the team.
5. Plays hella defense.
Point is, he is an all around player that most teams would kill for....he brings it all to the table. I find it funny that her we have a guy batting over .300 with 15 HR's and we are bitching. Is he under-performing based on past experience? Yes. Does he suck? Not even close.
Our Reds just took 2 of 3 from the Pi-rats to start the 2nd half and in my opinion, we are about to light up this division....calm down people....love the intensity though!
