Von Miller DEN OLB 34 29 5 10.0

Robert Ayers NYG DE 34 26 8 8.0

Yes I am on a fishing trip ....

But is Von better off in a another Uni ? and we keep his bucks ??????????????

We can just rent(Franchise him) him next year that is a given I say tell him to play for a new contract next year and that means no holding out just coming in not holding out like DT did

I don't want to give him a 100 mil with this as his reason's why he should be paid this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someon once said, "all payers have bad years." ;)

Seriously, does anyone think that teams have to game plan around Ayers like they do Von? I'm not sure what he is worth, but I hope we keep him. Playmakers aren't easily discovered.

I don't see the Broncos letting Von Miller get away. They either franchise him or get him a new mega contract. There's no doubt, the money will put some strain on the organization moving forward but it's a no-brainer IMO. The thing that doesn't show up in Von's stats is the attention he gets from opposing teams. He's often double-teamed and that opens up opportunities for other Broncos defenders to make a play. He also commonly creates chaos and disrupts the opposing offense. Those kinds of things just don't show up on the stat sheet. I think Von is a locker room leader and a huge part of the year's dominating defense. He really seems to have grown up in the last couple of years and is exhibiting much greater maturity overall. I can't see him in another uniform in the near future.

Here is the Deal...not to be a smart ass but miller late in the season seems to lose that Wow factor late in the season .

Before fat ass gate and MCL gate Miller was out of this world good !!!!!! Now I wonder if he is $100 mil good is all and if he is better off else were and we end up with two 1st round picks?

Yeah, I understand the point you're making. 100+ million can really put a strain on an organization. I'm just responding with my opinion that I think the Broncos will figure out a way to keep Von Miller on the team and I certainly would like to see him always be a Bronco. I also think Von continues to show up in big moments late in the season. The forced fumble (refs got the call wrong) in overtime against the Bengals is a prime example. Sometimes, it's masked by the plays others are making around him due to his disruption or attention from the other team. Again, just my opinions.

I wouldn't mind seeing Joe Thomas in a Broncos uniform but even tossing in a 2nd round pick wouldn't be enough to entice me to move on from Von Miller. Von Miller is a generational player IMO and you do everything you can to hold onto those guys when you get a chance.

You can't look at stats all the time to see what impact a player has.

Von has had a much higher impact then Robert Ayers on his team and making the players around him better. It's not even close. There are so many underrated stats that go un calculated by a pass rusher.

I know the OP is just striking up conversation and it`s all good but ask me later. I can`t even speculate if Denver just folds out rest of year. Then I would think anyone on the team will be vulnerable to release/trade,etc Miller no exception. Now if Denver goes far or at least Championship game and plays hard inspired football, then I think Elway will be more inclined to keep team together as much as possible and that would mean Von and the whole D. I think this will be a great repost when season and Denver is over,to speculate then and have a better sense of the "mood" in Denver afterwards. It could be all :)s or all :(s. :) Good post, I just haven`t a clue yet myself.

Robert Ayers is having the best season of his career, and his numbers still aren't as good as Von's in a somewhat down year. And those stats don't show pressures, which are also extremely important, and my guess is Von blows Ayers away in that category.

So no, I don't think the Broncos should let Von go.

Another problem I have in giving up that much money to one player is our Draft staff and there ability to find players like Barrette ..

I think I will keep leaning on a player -early 2nd round pick and thinking this is the right way to go .

Milller to a crappy team does not hurt us either .

I think you're forgetting the worst part of our team for a decade and how annoying it is and probably the second biggest need in the NFL to OL...

You sign Von.. No questions, not even a second guess. Only way I wouldn't is if he gets arrested from here until then for something serious. Has a nasty injury or fails a weed test again.. Other then that, this is a no brainer.

For a franchise who has always struggled to find a good pass rush until now you keep this guy around. Enjoy what he brings to this team. He makes others around him much better.

One thing I'll add is you have to be careful of players that seem to have good season in their contract yr but have been just avg or serviceable in prior yrs. Make you question their priorities and dedication. Also the system and supporting cast around them. We've all seen guys have great contract yrs get the big money and then basically disappear with new team. Tricky. :)

You sign Von! These are the type of players you build an entire team around. They asked some GM's earlier this year if there was one defensive player that you would build your team around in the NFL today who would it be...Over half of them said Von Miller even over JJ Watt. They said there is no scarier player in the league right now and player you have to spend your entire week gameplanning for more than Von Miller. When you read things like that from top NFL people to me you don't let that player get away.

Throw in even in his worst season where he was suspended and overweight I remember reading a stat where they showed the games where he played and the games he was out and just the difference just adding him to the roster made. I think we averaged close to a 100 yards less allowed per game and over a touchdown difference. In the NFL with games decided by a touchdown or less most weeks if there is a player that makes almost a touchdown difference just by their presence on the field you sign them and don't think twice about it.

No brainer! Players this good don't grow on trees...

and pass rushers in Denver are rare.
