Still waiting on the 13 other Bopleeny players that were "taken in the MLB draft"

Or was that just another exageration meant to assist in putting lipstick on a pig?

But yeah, let's pick out a couple that don't have as many offers and bring up semantics like it's a fucking courtroom in here.

If I was trying to make an argument that would hold up in the court of RA, I wouldn't have used a word like bunch.

But continue to pick out petty little things. It makes the board so enjoyable :L

A 'couple' would have been sufficient. However, that number would have obviously been de minimis to the issue at hand and would get the same 'wow factor'. Particularly when you consider there were over 140 recruits in Bopleeny's tenure.

Two guys is a mere 1.4%.

Aren't you an accounting major?

There's no reason to exaggerate things here.
If they're 3 stars then they're three stars. No need to flower them up by adding our own stars with ifs and buts.
Turning 3 stars into 4 stars on a message board just shows how insecure and out of touch with reality Husker fans truly are. They're gullible and will believe anything if there's even the slightest bit of hope involved.

Either this staff will make 4 stars out of those 3 stars, or they'll make 2 stars out of those 3 stars.

Give me a roster chock full of 4 and 5 stars and they aren't going to play elite football if I don't get them lined up right, give them something they can execute, and teach them proper fundamentals and discipline.

I'm not trying to argue that our 3 stars should be 4 stars or anything like that (although if a few of our guys perform well in the All-America games they will likely get bumped up). I'm looking at other offers, which I believe was one of the things you constantly brought up about Bo's recruits (and you were right). Going by that metric though, we are seemingly doing quite a bit better than Bo's recruiting. Among our commits, 7 out of 15 have 7 or more power 5 offers. That 15 is including our K/P, and a couple potential diamonds in the rough. If you are a good evaluator of talent, you take A COUPLE of those guys per class.

I agree that we need to see these guys develop the talent, and that is ultimately the most important part. However, from the organization to the caliber of players we are in on, it is not logical to compare this class to Bo's class at this point.

Now, if we are sitting in the same spot in early February, then that would be the time to start to worry.

I still eat crap food, but I can't help myself. I have little to no willpower when it comes to stuff like that.

Oh. Loathing most veggies doesn't help matters.

Well... lots of snark on this board here.

It's too early to tell whether or not this staff out-recruited Pelini this season. They are in on a lot of very highly touted guys, could land 4 Top247 players by the end of the class which would be the most we've had since 2011 but that's a lot of ifs. We'll see.

As for players that are committed...

Currently we have John Raridon, consensus Top 2 OG in the nation
Patrick O'Brien... we were his FIRST power 5 offer, since then plenty of schools have inquired and POB has told them, thanks but no thanks... those schools include USC, UCLA and Arizona State.

Marquel Dismuke had one of the best seasons in the nation at safety on one of the most talented football teams in the nation. He turned down offers to Arizona State, Mississippi State, Michigan and USC came sniffing around and he told them no. If you have recruiting subscriptions you can get to the boards that intimate those details if you wish.

Quayshon Alexander is another hot commodity, Pitt wants him bad, as does Va Tech, Michigan wanted him as well as Notre Dame, Wisconsinm Ole Miss and Miami...

Tre Bryant is another one, one of the best RBs statistics wise in the nation KSU, Mizzou and Wisconsin wanted him.

Jojo Domann was rated the Top Defensive player in Coloardo according to the HS coaches in the state

etc. etc....

However, all of that to say that these are similar recruits to what Bo has pulled in, in fact, Raridon was coming here regardless of who the head coach was. The truth of the matter is, Reese (who decides on Friday), Fitzpatrick, Lamar Jackson, Simmons, Farniok, Newman etc... are all great players we are in on but it won't matter if we don't land them. If we land all of the prospects we seem to be on top of right now we will finish with a Top 20 class, which would be our best class since 2011 as well (16)

FWIW... composite rankings of every Pelini class for comparison:

2008: 25
2009: 42
2010: 27
2011: 16
2012: 30
2013: 22
2014: 36

For Riley:

2015: 30 (not entirely his, but give him credit for keeping it together and adding Barnett late)
2016: currently - 31

I don't know that you should credit 2008 for Bopleeny any more than you should credit Riley with 2015. They'd be tossed for decent evaluation.

2008 was a partial HWSNBN class.
2015 was a partial Bopleeny's class.

True, the difference being that Bo lost a lot more recruits than Riley did in that transition class. I also think it's important to note that while stars definitely matter they do not tell the whole story. Development is HUGE in the process. I mean just look at Todd Peat Jr. compared to Maliek Collins. While that is certainly not the rule it is more normal than many think.
