Taraschke, Conte and Osterloh get 6 months of extra weights and west end.....nothing wrong with that!

Yep, they all seem to have very large frames 6'5" to 6'7". If we could get these guys up to 300-310 lbs...then we will have some REAL linemen..the kind that we have been needing..

osterloh was never going to uva!!! and they want parker at Left tackle. i think he will grow a bit more, and peak somewhere right at or just shy of 6'8''. prob end up somewhere around 315-320 lbs. gonna be a monster protecting buckys blindside.

They are listed as Tackles but that has been the approach according to Stinespring and Newsome. It i sa lot easier to move a Tackle inside than vice versa. Taraschke and Pfaff project as guars if I remember correctly though Taraschke could play either. Willenbrock is a guard all the way.

+1.

It's much harder to find enough high school OTs that will actually stick at that position at the FBS level. A kid may look good and play well at the high school level, but when he faces experienced FBS-level DEs for the first time in practice that's when the rubber meets the road.

The good thing is that all of these new guys are starting out pretty lean with big frames. They have less body fat to have to reshape and are starting the Tech S&C program by packing on good muscle-weight.

haha he eats as much as anyone can. VT also has a good plan in place to put on weight, which was something he really liked.

overall, im so happy the way our class is heading right now. and the direction of the recruiting for the program as a whole. there is obviously a crazy amount of talent to be had in the 2014 class as well. if we can somehow get a few of those blue chippers, LOOK THE F OUT AMERICA!

Haha i guess i shouldn't be surprised that they pitch something like that to recruits. I guess it's a little more than the "lift + D2" formula that we joke about.

But seriously, a few more big players this year and next and we should be well equipped to battle the big out of conference teams the next 5 years.

I couldn't find it but I could have sworn someone had said Pfaff and Osterloh would not be going to the same school. So much for that.

Right up until Saturday, it seemed that Pfaff was leaning slightly to UVa. I guess the atmosphere is what sold him on VT.

While UVa did have offers to both Pfaff and Osterloh, VT had to have them, but for UVa they were more of a luxury. The OL recruitment has been solid for UVa the past 2 years, while VT has really come up short. UVa would have been more than happy to have them in C'ville but it is more of a 'win' for VT to get them than it is a 'loss' for UVa to not get them.

and considering that UVA usually (only) has the edge in OL recruiting .. and the fact that VT just landed the top 2 OL in the state, it's could be a long recruiting cycle for UVA .. It would help if they could land Smoke though.

We may have those real linemen now'

Current Tech OLs: 13 total - 8 at 300 or heavier - 5 under 300

Name...............Orig Wt....Curr Wt
---------------------------------
Nick Becton 290 328
Michael Via 260 283
Vinston Painter 315 304
Andrew Miller 275 300
David Wang 295 286
Matt Arkema 290 285
Kory Gough 265 304
Brent Benedict 278 311
Nick Acree 295 299
Laurence Gibson 296 312
Mark Shuman 280 322
Caleb Farris 315 310
Jake Goins 258 291

Via has always had trouble gaining and keeping weight; Wang has plenty of time to get back to his pre-injury weight of 300+; Arkema just needs 10 more pounds; Acree needs a pound; and Goins just needs 9 pounds.

If we are going to a hurry up/spread/pistol instead of a power run game then the little smaller, quicker OL may be better. Tough to say without a true identity on offense.

Don't know if this has been posted yet, but I figured what the heck. Really interesting comments by Jared Green, the son of Darrell Green, who transferred out of UVa and is now looking to get drafted. This is a quote from him about Mike London.

"His agenda was to play receivers from the Tidewater area because that’s where he recruits,” Jared explained. “I went home that summer and told my parents I wanted to transfer. My mom (Jewell) said, ‘No. You’ve got two more semesters. Graduate from UVA.’ I said, ‘OK. Who knows? This coach might be an awesome guy.’ He wasn’t. Coaches can manipulate your mind and tell lies. They can hide behind the program and make a kid look like an outcast. I’m so thankful I learned that at UVA. I’m on a path and I had to experience some adversity. I think that was God’s way of humbling me and keeping me hungry.”

Great find, can i share it?

Also, where have you been?

Work has been insane lately. My boss left and I'm currently doing the jobs of three people. Corporate doesn't seem to be in a hurry to make a move and why would they, especially when they can pay one person to do the work of three and get the same amount of work.

Give me a sec and I'll be back with the link.
