1. I still feel really good about Kendall Fuller coming to Virginia Tech, especially after his brother has an all world year.

2. If he doesn't, cornerback is a spot where we make superstars, and don't rely on recruiting them.

I think getting a 5 star is invaluable in terms of recruiting momentum itself, not even counting their own performance

I do to, and I still think we are the team to beat for him. I am just saying that it is not a class breaker if he goes elsewhere. He is the best player on our board this year, but I do not consider him our most important target, if that makes sense.

I think so too. As much of a disappointment it would be to lose out on Fuller, let's face it..we are gonna get our fair share of top flight DB's as lond as TG is in BBurg. Hell, we have big time CBs coming from Florida and Georgia..in the heart of SEC country. Defensive back recruiting is not where we have fallen short in the last few years IMO...I have already voiced what area (IMO) where VT has failed in recruiting many, many times...

There are 2 players on the board more important right now IMO

Kendall has to be in the top 2 along with Bucky. While we do well with CBs, our depth is still very troubling. Guys like Rolin and Teller who are high on our board are still at positions that have better depth than CB and QB right now. I'd put OL up there, but those guys just aren't as talented as Kendall or Bucky. And that's not a slight to them because they are great players and I want them badly on our team, but those two would be some of the best we've recruited at both positions, which is saying something considering the talent we've had at QB and CB.

Yea, you can't ignore the depth issues. Kendall could step in and immediately play behind Kyle in the 2-deep and take his brothers spot the year after. Manning is going to be a stud for us, especially once he puts on weight, but Kendall is bigger, more physical and simply a better CB.

If you have to be young at a position, you want that 5* level talent to be there to soften the blow of the inexperience. Absolutely agree, Kendall is top 2 for me right with Bucky. Can't imagine the staff feels any different.

Not to mention if someone comes in and takes that kid, VT's image is going to take a hit everywhere. You absolutely must get these mega-legacy types or everyone is going to start poking around, thinking they can steal whoever they want from VT.

That said, he's been to Blacksburg a million times, he's not going to come down and say he was amazed by the campus or anything, it's practically his second home. Just important to keep the staff on him and tell him how important he is and how much the depth chart plays in his favor.

We're going to be fine on this one.

No surprise. Kendall's been saying that for quite a while.

Saying what exactly? All the interviews I've read with him have had great things to say about VT, but I'm not on twitter so I don't pay attention to that world.

Yes, Kendall always says great things about Tech during his interviews, but with his family's history at Tech, what else would you expect him to say? But, he's said basically the same things about the other schools he's visited. He's also been saying for quite a while that his recruitment is "open".

Some of the top guys who work for 247 and Rivals are very active on Twitter. It's surprising how much you can learn from folks who don't have a bias one way or the other. Case in point, when nearly everyone on the Tech message boards thought Kirven was going to commit to Tech, those guys were saying Alabama.

And those same guys said Caleb and Ekanem to VT when others were saying WVU/OSU or ND. And the guys on 247 and Rivals were saying the same things that the VT were saying. The national guys have to rely on their team analysts for most of their information. Same for Kirven. Up until the last week, they were all pointing towards VT. The competition was changing alot during that time as well. At one point, Tennessee was the team challenging VT, then it was Alabama, and back and forth. I think ultimately family pressured him into Alabama. That's the way it goes.

As far as Fuller, I would first say it's a completely different situation than Kirven's. Family ties are alot stronger than teammates. And in every interview I've read or seen, VT is always the first team mentioned. But he may go elsewhere. No one can predict what these kids will be thinking in 10 months and I'm not going to waste my time in hanging on their every thought. With that said, I would not trade VT's position with any other team for Fuller, which is all that needs to be said.

Shurburtt was the first and main person to say Kirven to Bama. Care to guess where he thinks Fuller is headed?
