I really like this 2012 class because everyone of the players are recruiting others to come to VT... Riley, JC, Tookes, Edmunds, Frye, etc. All of them are recruiting hard for VT its great.

Are they recruiting for the 2012 class or future classes?

Recruits recruiting

I wish Kendall Fuller would recruit Stefon Diggs to VT, even though I think Cyrus Jones may be the better fit (and attitude) at the next level. Then again, J.C. has been recruiting Cyrus since he himself committed.

On a side note, I think Fuller could be a monster, Freshman starter, first-round NFL type for the Hokies. I can't imagine a more comfortable way to start a college career, or anything more the coaches can do to prove that they can and will maximize his talents.

Kendall Fuller should be a beast but I think he may not be as immediate of an impact as people think jayron took a year so did Kyle I think in his 2nd year he would be nice assuming he commits to Tech... And BTW saw on R____ his player comparison was Charles Woodson

In Fuller's case only, it seems that the Sugar Bowl could leave a lasting impression. His apparent early favorites are Tech and Michigan. You'd have to think the memory of Bud (and his brother) bottling up Denard would trump any recruiting pitch. LT3 running and throwing over the Wolverines' D would only make it that much more clear.

No offense to Jayron, Kyle, or any of our other great DB's of the past but Kendall will be the best freshman DB to ever play @ VT. (if he ends up here )

Anyone in Blacksburg hearing that the coaching staff is trying very hard to get Daniel Rodriguez enrolled next semester? Heard from someone within the admissions office that they are working to get him on Campus ASAP.

Haven't had a chance to comment on this but IMO his video was impressive. The team, region and classification he played in (in NOVA, supposedly a 3 year starter) tells me he is definitely a good football player. I haven't been able to find much on him but my hunch is he probably had the ability to play Division 2 or 3 somewhere straight out of HS without a problem. He will get a chance. Seems like he has alot of heart and some major work ethic. His size/stature/ speed reminds me of DC..Could be a great route runner/slot kinda guy. I think it is awesome that Beams is gonna probably give him a shot. At the very least could be a great leader and character guy for the team...

Whats the story with Rodriguez? I haven't heard that name mentioned before and couldn't find a Rivals profile.

(Btw, I went back threw this thread and tried to check, I'm not trying to be lazy about asking)

Even if he is just a special teams player, I feel like having a guy like this on the team would be worth it because he would push everyone else to work harder. I would feel pretty guilty if I seem him working his ass off and I'm just sleepwalking through workouts. I know scholarships are tight at times, but having a role model like him can be invaluable.

Perspective

This story is extra special to me, because I grew up a Tech fan but joined the military when I couldn't afford to attend VT without taking out ridiculous student loans, later deploying to Iraq. I'm almost the exact same size as Daniel, and I look forward to living vicariously through him if he gets to don the jersey (though there's no way in hell that I'd have ever been good enough).

Since I have a little extra perspective, there are two things I'd like to point out:

1. The Bronze Star that Daniel won for valor is not a small honor. He showed uncommon heroism beyond what it takes to sign up to defend our country in the first place.

2. Daniel should not count against the scholarship limit. I suppose he could be given an honorary scholarship, but his schooling should already be paid by the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill. That, combined with what's called the Yellow Ribbon Program, in which VT participates, will cover his in-state college expenses. In fact, he will also receive a housing allowance commensurate with what scholarship players receive.

The video was awesome, and I agree what everyone above is saying about his character in the locker room etc. I am worried though about him coming and then not ultimately seeing the field and the whole thing beginning to look like a publicity stunt (even though I think Beamer is 100 percent sincere in giving him a look), and him getting disappointed. I guess what i'm saying is I hope it doesn't get too hyped up by the media, those commentators on ESPN can go a little overboard at times...

Noooo... The same ones that described over and over and over how Mike London was shown a pistol when he was a cop and let a bad guy get away?

Those guys?

Not to beat a dead horse, but I just watched some highlights of the Chesapeake Bowl practices and guess what warm up pants, Ken Crawley was wearing.....:L:L

Ugh, I love the guys that we have, but can you ever have too many good cornerbacks???

He has an offer, the boat is just full. Add in the fact that we took two pure corners last year and I guess it won't work. It just kind of sucks because as was said earlier, he was a heavy Virginia Tech lean and is from a school where we recruit heavily.

Who knows, Greene and Frye could be offensive guys so maybe we can make a late push but I think that we are done.

Right now we have two corners (Manning and Tookes), two safeties (Mötley and Riley) and two tweeners (Greene and Frye) coming in this class. That is a lot of DBs.
