I dunno, but i wouldnt worry about it. How often does that school put out D-1 talent? I think it's very rare.

It could be more often now that they have a little bit of a name for themselves. Since they are a private school you do not have to be in district to attend. I know people that live near me (Newport News) and go to school there.

Hey guys Ive been lurking in this thread for about 3 months and just decided to join.

what I've heard about Manning, is that he is taking OVs more or less to get his HS coaches name out and get press for his hs program. As long as TG is still on the sidelines, Manning is definitely still a Hokie. And fwiw, he rocks his 'D. Manning' embroiderer VT hat at a lot of the camps he attends

Welcome. That is exactly what Manning is doing. The only thing that scares me about Manning is FSU and Alabama, however I think he stays. We only have a few more months to wait with him since he is enrolling in January.

His coach is escorting him around to camps to show off their talent and their program. I do not mind any player doing this, since he told the coaching staff what his intentions were (unlike Nixon). In the end, I think Manning stays a Hokie

If you are a DB, VT is where you want to be. Just look at the track record for putting DBs in the pros. Enough said. That is why I have faith Manning is staying put.

Lewis may decide this week, he is at PSU today and will prob verbal to them, if he comes back without a commit then we may have a shot.

Something happened with us and Crawley and he seems to be a very big UT lean.

Caleb we have a great shot for, he will announce on signing day.

Kirven we have a great shot for but he is not going to announce for a while.

Enkanem (sp) is probably not coming to VT.

We have a very good shot at Drew Harris.

Gurley likes VT but seems to have a UNC lean (I have no idea why)

Chris Brown we have a shot with.

Yeah, it may be kind of lulling for a bit here unless someone pops onto the radar. I would bet Ekanem is the next in state guy who will decide, and as Evan mentioned, I don't think that it will be VT.

Crawley, Lewis and Brown may all decide within the next few weeks and we have a shot but I think that Brown may be the only Hokie out of that group.

Caleb and Kirven are still heavy VT leans but will not decide for a long while (Caleb, signing day).

Remember though, the season hasn't even started so I would bet that 5-6 more names will pop up on the radar before it is all said and done.

I would bet we hit Atlantic HS hard during the season once we see some more of their players, that is going to be a pipeline that will stay open, esp. if we can get Maddy some early PT!

Unfortunate to see Nixon likely going to the dark side..in the end I think it will be best for all parties. I'm with you guys, I will take guys from a HD Woodson over a VA private school any day of the week..On another note, I have seen a bit of info. about a receiver out of Phoebus, Romond Deloatch. He seems to have great measurables and is ranked pretty high on VA Preps last I looked. Any reason this guy isn't getting much hype/press or offers from us and UVA??? I thought I read something somewhere that his grades weren't great. Also, a year or two ago A RB, Dallas Cogdell (Hampton High I believe)out of the 757 was pretty hyped up. Any word on what happened with him?? Looks like with the exception of the few top VA kids (Caleb, Ekanem, Kirven)that are left, its pretty slim pickins left here in state.

Norfolk Christian only had SEVENTEEN players tryout this year!!..thats crazy to think that they had 3 D1 athletes, and a tag along last year..one of the 3 wont pan out...also crawley loves VT fans but feels he gets no love from the coaches...we are apparently his dream school growing up but feels no love from the staff...all the fans want this kid...look at his offer list..crazy they wouldn't go after him hard..must feel pretty good about what we have from the 2011 and 2012 classes

Deloatch has offers from Marshall and Temple, while Cogdell has no offers at all.

Cogdell is a big RB...6'3", 225 pounds. I read an article that indicates he may be getting offers before Signing Day rolls around, but that may depend on how well he performs. He ran for 599 yards and 12 TDs last season...the FBS schools may be wanting to see more production before they extend offers.

Talked to Auggie Conte's dad today at work. He said they are excited for him to be going to VT despite coming from a UVA background. They wanted to take the emotional side out of it and go to the school that suits him the best. He also said Frank and Shane Beamer have been great to them and they really like the coaching staff. It came down to VT is clearly in a better place right now. The first game they (the parents) will be going to is the Miami game. I told them they are going to love it.
