After all these years, he still calls a game pretty much to perfection. Glad to know he'll still be around. :hail:

Definitely agree that he "calls a game" really well. I have also enjoyed a number of stories that I've heard him tell about current and former players. But I've always wondered whether there is a single two-man broadcasting team that together say as much during a game as Vin says by himself during a game. I think that the game kind of speaks for itself at times. Like I say, he is great for an inning or two. After that, I have to mute the sound. He's kind of exhausting!

Can I assume that you are a younger man TD? I ask, as it seems by and large that the folks who don't care for him all tend to be say 30 or under now. And, I think the reason has a lot to do with him being a throwback to a bygone era, where most play by play guys had a similar style of talking about and around the game, while describing the play by play at the same time.

I'm actually an old guy, but I like to think that I'm young at heart. LOL You might be onto something, though, since I have only watched a lot of baseball in the past three years, when I started buying the packages that allow one to see most MLB games on TV. Didn't realize that the one-man in the booth was traditional in baseball. I guess I'm more used to the setup for football, where one guy does play by play and another does color commentary.

Anyway, I don't mean to criticize Scully. I know that he's a legend and many fans really enjoy him. I am just amazed that he is able to say so much during a game.

I understand that he's not everyone's cup of tea. There have been times when I have not been in the mood for his slow-paced style. But man, no one touches him for sheer eloquence.

I watch most Dodgers home games, not because I'm a Dodgers fan but because I'm a Vin Scully fan.

I am dreading the day he walks away from the game and losers like Steve Lyons take his place.

The greatest ever announcer besides Chick Hearns. I spoke to Chick Hearns after a Lakers game about six months before he died. What an honor to speak to the greatest. I remember Vin Skully announcing those games when I was in first grade - more the 47 years ago. Unbelievable

Vin talks too much? He's a 1 man team, what else is he supposed to do, let it be silent?

Anyways, Vin the best of all time, so happy to have him back next year

He is a one man team because he is like Bob Uecker in Major League just not as interesting.

I bet you haven't watched three innings of his games.

If you poll Dodgers fans going into the stadium if they are glad Vin Scully is coming back, 999 out of 1000 would say yes.

I think if you polled all baseball fans, an overwhelming majority would feel the same way.

I bet you're just bored all the time, I mean you are a Mets and Bills fan.

Angry yes but there is never a boring moment being a Bills or Mets fan. I mean at anytime you Franchise guy can break his leg off, or someone makes a stupid trade for your owner could be taken for Millions again.
