A day after placing one veteran quarterback on waivers, the Minnesota Vikings have claimed another veteran quarterback off waivers.
The Vikings are replacing Donovan McNabb with Sage Rosenfels, Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports.
Rosenfels has been on the Dolphins’ Non-Football Injury list with an infection, but he was waived off that list on Thursday. There was talk that he’d end up with the quarterback-needy Texans, but that turned out not to be the case.
This will be the second time Rosenfels has been a member of the Vikings; he was with the team in 2009 until he became expendable when Brett Favre arrived in camp. (You knew we had to find a way to work Favre into today’s stories of veteran quarterbacks trading places.)
So now Rosenfels will spend a few weeks doing what McNabb didn’t want to do: backing up Christian Ponder and Joe Webb.
