my original prediction of L this sunday stands.

We always seem to struggle at Soldier field and I don't like match up vs their front 7.

I think we can force Mitch into some mistakes, I just think they can force cousins into few mistakes

24-17 bears

Defense team that can't stop chase Daniels dinking and dunking down field

Just cut Cousins now. Its embarrassing.

Go get Sloter back and give it a prayer.

This dude cannot do it against a real defense. He simply cant.

I've been wondering when others will start seeing what I was seeing wrong with Zimmer as early as 2017 when he didn't miss a chance to bash Keenum when we had no choice but to rely on the guy. Then he lets the team pay Cousins $10 million more per year than it would have costed to keep Keenum for a couple more years, except for 3 fully guaranteed years they can't get out of no matter what happens. Even if Cousins wasn't Zim's idea, they definitely would have just hung onto Keenum instead of bringing him in had Zimmer spoken up about it. Dude runs a 1970's style offense and a vastly overrated defense and all anyone ever wants to do is blame whoever is QB since 2014.

The fact that they cut Sloter goes to show what a joke Zimmer is when it comes to offense. There was no excuse to do that. I seriously doubt that Sloter was going to come in and light up the league, but it would have made a lot more sense to give the unkown kid with hype a shot in the event of them wanting to bench Cousins than some random journeyman QB who we already know sucks. They should be signing Sloter back off the Cardinals practice squad first thing Monday morning and letting Cousins know he goes straight to the bench to rot for the next 1 1/2 seasons unless he gets it together.

Looking out at the rest of our schedule, things don't look good. I've been saying they'll go 7-9 to 9-7 all along here, and I stand by that prediction. Getting to 10-6 would be very impressive after the way their passing game has been through week 4.

As of now, I'm changing my prediction to 6-10 to 8-8 for a two game variable. I hope they prove me wrong, but so far, this season has another classic average Cousins/Zimmer result written all over it. Plus there already seems to be open discontent in the locker room over their failures on offense, which doesn't bode well for a 0.500 team with 75% of the season still left to play.

Between the way the team has looked and now the internal strife between Cousins, Diggs and Thielan, Zimmer needs to make the playoffs to keep his job IMO. And a one and done in the playoffs might not even do it.

The fact that he is alienating his star players to the point that they dont know if they are wanted on the team is a HUGE red flag. The way he has botched the offensive coaching the last 2 years has been ridiculous.

I agree. Losing to either the Bears or Packers was one thing, but losing both of those games was a terrible way to start the season. Looking out to the remainder of the schedule, this is how I see things panning out:

Week 6 - Eagles, L (Winnable game, but we have been historically terrible against Philly no matter when or where we play them).
Week 7 - @ Lions, W (Very possible to lose this one, but they should win and can't afford to cough it up)
Week 8 - Redskins, W
Week 9 - @ Chiefs, L
Week 10 - @ Cowboys, L (winnable game if the D plays lights out and our passing game actually exist)
Week 11 - Broncos, W
Week 12 - BYE
Week 13 - @ Seawhawks, L
Week 14 - Lions, W
Week 15 - @ L.A. Chargers, L
Week 16 - Packers, W (could easily lose this one, but we should win)
Week 17 - Bears, L (I just don't see this offense getting it together enough to contend with that defensive front 7)

That would put them right at 8-8 for the season, which is what I've thought they'd end up around since the off season. The most winnable games of the bunch I have them losing are Philly at home, Cowboys on the road, and Bears at home. Going by that, if literally everything goes as well as it realistically can for the rest of the season, their ceiling is about 11-5. On the flip side, I've got them winning a couple games that I think they're more likely to lose than they are to win the games I just mentioned, being the Lions road game, and Packers home game. In the end, I think the most likely outcome is it all evens out to a typical Cousins/Zimmer Vikings season between 7-9 and 9-7. Honestly I'd almost rather see them go 6-10 and get a better draft pick than something like 9-7/10-6 and barely making or missing the playoffs and ending up with another late pick despite another disappointing season.

Nice call :suds:

Happy to have been wrong. That win was exactly the type of game they need to pull off if they want to be a legit playoff contenders. Obviously, no one is about to think they'd go to KC and beat the Chiefs or anything like that. But it's nice to see them finally put a quality opponent down when the odds should have been stacked in their favor with the matchup dynamics and the fact that it was a home game.

If they get solid wins against the Lions and Redskins to get to 7-2, which they *should* do I'll start believing this team could get between 10-6 and 11-5 and maybe even win a playoff game. They're going to need to be willing to mix it up in the passing game like they did with Philly to make that happen, but it's definitely possible.

The defense is absolutely comical

If we do get a stop, some dumbass(Barr) gets a penalty to give them 1 more chance

Going to the half tied now

Yep. This is exactly why I've been saying it's so stupid for them to blame everything on Cousins all the time. We're tied at the half despite him having 2 TD's/0 INT's and another TD via the rushing game. Against the Lions. That's not an "elite" defense. If Zimmer's defense is so amazing, the offense shouldn't need to put up a minimim of 35+ points to ensure a win any given game.

Offense has been great today even without Thielen.

Of course we do finally punt right after forcing a Detroit punt and having a chance to get a cushion tho. But can't complain about the O. Irv and Bisi making big impacts.
