Vikings' Chad Greenway backs off of "super-duper drunk" comment
Submitted by 60 Max Power O Staff on December 7, 2012 - 7:04am

In this politically correct world of ours, you better be careful what you say at all times. Especially when you're a professional athlete and you have a microphone in front of you. Is it fair? Probably not.

The latest to get the politically incorrect beat down is Chad Greenway, who received a lot of criticism for a little joking around with the media.

"Yeah, I would say morning drinking," Greenway told the Star Tribune earlier in the week, as the Vikings will take on the Bears at noon locally. "Why not? You could pull an all-nighter. Then you'd have the drunk, tired guys who will really be obnoxious."

Then came the outrage. How could he? You can't say that! OMG!

If a player said that in the 60's, he'd get a big laugh and receive a pat on the back. But, oh no, it's 2012, and it's the era of outrage and the PC police are watching.

"Obviously, I could have used some more responsible words," Greenway told WMVP-AM Chicago on Thursday, via ESPNChicago.com. "I think the people that know me, the beat writers included, know that I said that sort of tongue-in-cheek."

"I played football at the University of Iowa, and all I knew was that they started drinking at about 5 o'clock at those games for tailgating, so I thought it would be OK to say it," Greenway said. "Obviously I just went a little far."

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Now that defensive end Everson Griffen has been fined, the Minnesota Vikings won't be any more pleased with the NFL over what it felt was a penalty on a clean play in last Sunday's loss to Green Bay.

The NFL announced Friday that Griffen will lose $15,750 for a roughing-the-passer penalty on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers late in the second quarter of a 23-14 loss. Minnesota immediately took issue with the penalty, which negated an interception by Jared Allen that would have given the Vikings the ball at the Green Bay 18-yard line with a chance to open up a bigger lead before halftime.

The NFL said Griffen was fined for hitting Rodgers late. He didn't appear to take more than one step after the MVP quarterback released the ball, and he hit Rodgers in the shoulder area, not on the helmet. Several Vikings' players were still steamed about the call after the loss.

This was a bogus call to begin with, now he's been fined for too..Such bullshit.

The weather guys here are saying no more snow but there will be winds blowing from 20-30 MPH so you almost wonder how much worth there is in moving the current snow off the driveway. :noidea:
