They had to drop both games because there are scheduled SEC games next year on those dates.

That isn't as bad as Minnesota paying $800,000 to cancel the UNC game next year and then having their AD admit it was to get more wins.

So was Vandy the only SEC team that had to cancel OOC contracts due to the SEC schedule?

I'm curious that as a conference, the SEC couldn't find a way to let their representative schools honor their previous OOC commitments and schedule around them.

Why would anyone enter a future contract with an SEC school if their head offices won't take them into consideration?

The contracts have clauses and dates at which you must committ or back out.

Your title is dramtic with the 'scrambling part'. The deadline approached and Vandy informed both schools they cannot commit to the agreed upon meeting due to conference scheduling, which trumps everything.

Link to the contracts?

I would say leaving 2 teams from the same conference less than a year to find opponents a situation of scrambling. You think they're sitting on their thumbs right now or scanning schedules and making phone calls?
Those open dates will probably have to be filled with FCS teams of which Vandy and the SEC were sure to preserve.

Back to the original question...Is Vandy the only SEC school required to cancel contracts by this late scheduling?

Sorry I don't have a link but when two parties come to an agreement were money is to be exchanged terms are laid out and each party usualy has a right to cancel included in said contract with dates.

The ADs have 10 months to settle in with another school, that is what they do. Plenty of teams do not have their 2013 finalized. Scrambling is over dramatic. :hippie:
