How does his comment defeding how he left Florida have something to do with Florida? All this came from a question about Lincoln Riley. Urban went straight to Herman and Muschamp, hence why I said this was nothing but a self-serving message from Urban
In what way do his comments serve himself? They had nothing to do with him, and they were completely valid. You're just butthurt that he called out your coach for making excuses for his inability to gameplan against a team that ranked 88th in the nation last year in points per game. You shouldn't need to "sprinkle fairy dust" on your team to prevent that from happening.

Urban Meyer knows a thing or two about respectfully replacing legends.

Twelve years ago, Ohio State's current coach started a successful run at Florida just four seasons after Steve Spurrier left the Gators. In late 2011, he became the first permanent coach following the firing of Jim Tressel.

On Saturday, Meyer will coach against Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley, who himself is three months into taking over for the suddenly retired Bob Stoops.

Meyer said it drives him "insane" when coaches blame players they inherited from a previous staff.

The coach particularly took issue with Tom Herman at Texas and Will Muschamp, formerly at Florida and now at South Carolina.

Meyer pointed to a statement made Saturday by Herman (his former offensive coordinator at Ohio State) not being able to "sprinkle fairy dust" on the Longhorns team he inherited from Charlie Strong (Meyer's former defensive coordinator at Florida) following a loss to Maryland.

Meyer also said Muschamp "blamed us for Florida," referring to a perceived lack of talent left for Muschamp when Meyer departed before the 2011 season.

"C'mon man. I don't know where that came from," Meyer told CBS Sports. "It's like a new generation of excuse. [Herman] said, 'I can't rub pixie dust on this thing.' He got a dose of reality. Maryland just scored 51 points on you."

A really strange thing for Meyer to spout off on, especially considering he should have all his concentration on the upcoming game.

All I can think of is he really likes Charlie Strong and/or had a falling out with Herman.

His comment was about blaming the kids.
He went into Muschamp and the talent he left them. I think people are just reading the headlines on this stuff.

Went after Muschamp also. Again this has in a response to a question about Lincoln Riley and OU. Sounds more of a recruiting tactic, than anything else to me.

Muschamp is a bitch. He deserves to get ripped.

The Herman thing seemed out of nowhere tho.

Just Urban being the self-serving prick he is.
1st off Urban preaching to another coach on accountability is awesome. He just trying to protect his legacy at Florida. No need to look at the mess he left there after his band of thugs ran through there. Why not kick a man when he is down, especially when he is the biggest hurdle to continued recruiting success in Texas.

Maryland.

It's for recruiting. Meyer has cleaned up with top end Texas talent, thanks in no small part because of Tim Beck. I know buckeyes hated Beck, but he made it rain Texas recruits. Herman "stole" him, even though he was probably going to get fired. Meyer is just doing negative recruiting out in the open now, hoping to steal a few Texas kids without Beck.

Herman pulled TX recruits before Beck was there. He's the one who laid the groundwork for the TX pipeline tOSU currently enjoys.

As long as Ohio State stays nationally relevant, that pipeline isn't going to dry up now. Once they get their foot in the door, they won't be exiting.

We still consistently get high quality recruits out of FL and have for decades. I don't imagine the TX pipeline will be going dry with Beck gone.

If you recruit Texas, be sure you don't go after some of ours that can't tackle. We seem to be lacking in the tackling department as of late! j/s

Listened to Campus Conversation Podcast last night and heard Herman's remarks. Unless they left something out, I believe Meyer made a big deal out of nothing.

What I heard was "We cannot just sprinkle pixie dust" and things are going to be different than last year. Seems to be an underlying issue here with Meyer. Maybe I am wrong? If someone can point me to different or undiscovered details I am all ears

You are correct. His statement was definitely twisted, but Herman left himself open to that.

Oh, we have a few...even if that ain't one of 'em. But they seem few and far between nowadays. Probably going to get worse since contact at practice is lessened. At least their noggins will be better off for it!

Haha, well tbh it's not a recruit issue, it's a coaching issue.

At Ohio State, the corners and safeties are taught to be aggressive to stop the run and make open field tackles. If you can't do that, you won't play. So it really doesn't matter where those guys are from.

For whatever reason at Texas (and seemingly every other Big12 school) fundamental tackling from secondary players is completely lacking. That's 100% on the coaching staff.

Meyer's comments about Muschamp lead me to believe he has a personal axe to grind and this was a convenient way to do just that. If I were coaching THE oh st I would be focusing on OK. However I am not coaching them and will be relegated to watching the game on Saturday

Yeah, his statement seemed pretty innocuous to me. Surprised Meyer spoke out about it at all.

I don't think any head coach should get embarrassed on the big stage at home like that and act as if it was the previous season's fault. Texas is a talented team and should've beaten Maryland comfortably. Instead they shit the bed in about as embarrassing of fashion as they could. He should've said "I did not have my team prepared as I should have, but will work through the season to ensure we improve." Instead, he acted like he inherited a team with no talent at all and that it wasn't his fault that they lost.

lolz

I got a score update on my phone and turned the game on while I did some shit around the house. I just kept thinking about @TexasExes98's comments regarding the B1G and nearly laughed my middle testicle clear off.

Maryland.

So funny.
