Upset of the week: Carolina over Seattle

I don't know where the NFL pick thread is now, but if you find it, you'll see there as well as here that I agree with you.

CAR has a much improved DEF, and I'm just thinking @ home Cam will make enough plays to win it.

Always tough for a team from the west coast to travel across the country and play an early game. Add to that Seattle hasn't been nearly as good on the road as it has at home and I don't think that a Carolina win is out of the question. Should be an interesting game.

Good point, I should say on paper they should be much improved.

Living in ATL, maybe the benefit of seeing them a few times a year...they were weak on the DL especially the interior guys...the very good rookie MLB made a ton of tackles LY...but a lot of them were 5 yds down field...they've beefed up the DTs.

About a week and a half ago a different Seahawks fan mentioned the legion of boom. I dismissed it as something stupid that he made up. Seeing it here again so I had to Google it. It's real! It's the dumbest, lamest nickname I've ever heard of...and it's real! I predict the Seahawks will do better than expected this year because the other teams will be too busy laughing at them to execute their plays effectively.

As a Panthers fan, the two things I wanted to see in the preseason did not happen.
1. Establish a power running game. We could not block for our backs.
2. Cam progress through his reads. While I saw some improvement he still seems intent on forcing in some I'll advised throws.
I did not see much of Seattle in the preseason so I cannot speak to their game this year but our front 7 look to be pretty remarkable and have the ability to keep us in every game. If our o line gets it together we can beat anyone including Seattle

I am having a hard time calling this game. That it's in Carolina and being an early game I give them a shot to win. I still think Seattle has too much overall talent, a more consistent QB and a stout running attack.

They should win but I wouldn't be upset if they did lose.

Wait until the games start. Seattle had one of if not the best D in the NFL last year, but that was last year. Wilson had a great first year, that does not guarantee anything this year. Last year Carolina was a trendy pick, same as Seattle this year. Right now, nothing is 100% certain for any team, isn't Baltimore the defending SB champs? How did they look last night. Wait until week 4 or 5, then we will know how good or bad either team is.

Actually, our DE's were really good, the starters (Johnson & Hardy) combined for over 23 sacks last year. And Kuechly, our MLB didn't start playing that position until week 6 last year.

So what would you like to talk about until then?

Carolina has come nice piece on defense, but their secondary still looks shaky. Their starting safety was on the street last week. I think that Star will be a great player, I followed him throughout his time at Utah and think that he's a special talent. But it usually takes this big guys a little time to develop full game conditioning.

And I dont remember Carolina's expectations last year being what Seattle's are this year.

I actually think it's a pretty good nickname, and I'm a 49er fan. So you know I'm a hostile witness.
