LOL! The season is almost here. I'm attempting to tackle one problem at a time but its difficult, great argument Shark....you've got a LOT of firepower underneath that palate of yours. Personally, I think a losing season the first year without the major injury would have been fine for the team, Shanahan and RGIII. NO ONE expected ANYTHING but a last place finish. The league would have still copied what we were doing in D.C. and the team would have shown flashes of what we are capable of producing.

Shanahan would have gotten a pass after being fired for an awful roster, RGIII would either be working for a new coach OR in Shanahan's contract year....you would have seen a more disciplined team win the division and Shanahan re-signed.

We lost nothing in the trade, we've had more success than st.louis and we MAY have a franchise QB, they clearly don't. St. louis is now in the toughest division in football...
Also, its funny the 4 QBs you mentioned had OUTSTANDING or Elite defenses backing them up...we haven't had that since the 80's

BTW - forgot to complement you on your last point. Let's dismiss last season for now since it involved injuries, turmoil, salary cap issues, etc. Let's focus on the rookie year for RG3. Barring that late season fluke injury if the Redskins had the exact same defense as say last year's Seahawks they would have been serious contenders for the SB title.

Remember a few seasons ago the Redskins defense was a liability until very late in the season & even then they still had issues. They were certainly not a lock down unit. The ground control offense of the Redskins from a few seasons ago would have been ideal if combined with an elite defense. On the flip side what did Wilson really have to do in a lot of the games for Seattle last season other than simply not lose the game.

Just shows as usual that the QB is not the end-all be-all for any NFL team. It amuses me that some folks here last season tried to place almost all of the blame on RG3 even going as far as blaming him for issues on defense & special teams. Ridiculous. All of the coaches and players are responsible both for good times & bad times.

It may have been mentioned before since I'm new but...

I think RGIII will be just fine. His first two seasons were played under the salary cap penalty. The Skins could not improve any area of need. Add to that the lack of picks due to the trade and here we are.

Just way, way too many factors. We are still suffering from years of bad management, poor talent development, inexplicable past draft bust and giving away money to washed up paper superstars. Great for keeping your team in the forbes list, but not great for adding another lombardi trophy.
