It would be awesome if Kopitar came out and said "Why don't I just take a pay cut? I mean geez, how many millions am I worth?!" thus, making both sides look like asses.

Prior to the last CBA, you were able to re-negotiate a contract with a player. I remember Roman Turek when he was with the Flames re-structured his contract in order for the Flames to sign some guys.

/Best thing Turek did in a Flames uniform, by the way...
