NOPE. the the side picture is giving you the illusion it might be a hair over the rim. if you watch the replay its NEVER even close to being over the rim. he touches it to move the BALL TO THAT POSITION AFTER THE AIR BALL

I've seen the replay. He touched it while it was above the rim. just like in the picture I posted.

Wha? That ball is clearly higher than the rim.

Holy fuck. If I were SMU I would murder that referee.
Who got the rebound? a Bruin. If it was a Mustang they don't make that call it doesn't matter if it hit the rim.

That a Bruin was getting the rebound, changed the whole call.

All that needs to happen at that point is the ball needs to hit rim.

Forget all about whether it needs to go in. He hits rim and that's an offensive rebound and probably offensive rebound points and the same score we ended up with.

That ball has less than a 1% chance of going in... but definitely a correct goaltending call in my opinion.
Thank but even if they didn't call the foul and let it play it still would have been Bruins ball under the basket with a new clock.

Lot's of options....

Easiest, a put back, matching the games eventual outcome.

Here's the 2010-2011 Rulebook

"b.
The entire ball is above the level of the ring and has the possibility,
while in flight, of entering the basket and is not touching the
cylinder."

He hit rim before the shot clock it plays on. A Bruin had the rebound so the Mustang must let it hit rim to keep the play alive.

He can't touch it there and he did.

If it has an opportunity to hit the rim, it has a chance to go in.

If you don't want a goaltending call, don't touch the goddamn ball when it is above the goddamn rim. It isn't that hard.

You can have that opinion, I just disagree with you. I don't think it had a possibility of going in. I honestly believe it had a 0.00000% chance of going in.

If you were an SMU fan or that happened to UCLA, then I am positive you would feel differently. Bias is a bitch.

That's fair.

I'm of the opinion that if the ball is on a downward trajectory if any part of the bottom half of the ball has a chance to hit the rim then it has a chance to go in, however small that chance may be.

Do you live in a tesseract? Are you a 4 dimensional being? No? then shut the fuck up because in this 3 dimensional universe that fucking ball was above the rim.

He's saying it wasn't above the rim. It was more than ten feet in the air, but the rim was to the left of the ball.

It wasn't in the cylinder. I totally agree. But it was above the rim, and that matters.

If SMU got the rebound, I'd agree. But it was a Bruin rebound. No call leads to an offensive rebound under the rim.

He probably puts it back for 2 if it hits the rim.

But we don't know...

I've seen a bunch of shots nobody thought would go in, fall in....
