Because they beat all of the teams that they played, including Auburn.Because they beat Auburn? Good Lord.
No they shouldn't. If Bama didn't get in, Ohio State would have, and they finished with a more impressive win than UCF did.If anything this year has shown us again that the 4 team playoff is garbage and that UCF should have gotten a chance to compete. I think they could give anyone a run for their money, even Bama.

I hear the sisters got invited to a better bowl than Syracuse. The sisters of St. Mary's approve of this message.

I definitely think UCF should have gotten the fourth spot, because I think the playoffs are about the four most deserving teams, and I didn't think Ohio State, Wisconsin, Alabama, or USC did enough to deserve to be there. But to anoint them champions, especially when two of the playoff teams beat the team they just played, one much worse on the same field, is absolutely ridiculous. They hadn't played an actual P5 team until today.
That's a big "maybe". The Pac 12 going 1-7 in their bowls tells me that the conference was shit. USC probably was not as good a team as Auburn. Although the SEC also was crap in their bowl games. UCF did not deserve to be in the top 4, but this is why an 8 team playoff is needed. Wisconsin, Ohio State, UCF and maybe USC would have been worthy in the 8 team playoff. No they shouldn't. Auburn was 2-0 with Kerryon Johnson healthy against the two teams in the championship. Auburn lost a close game to Clemson at Clemson without Kerryon Johnson, which is much better than losing at Syracuse without your QB in the second half.
Auburn was 0-1 against UCF with Kerryon Johnson healthy. And, Auburn couldn't run the ball.
Clemson didn't have their QB in the first half either....well he was behind center but with only one leg.
I Googled strength of schedule and that's what it said, so this universe I guess. In what universe did Alabama have the 9th toughest schedule??
I would watch this.Wisconsin vs UCF for the Shoulda Coulda Bowl -- live from Lafayette, LA

I was more talking about our win being more convincing, but otherwise I agree with your post. That's a big "maybe". The Pac 12 going 1-7 in their bowls tells me that the conference was shit.
