Question for the football experts here (I am not one)...it seems to me there's almost no way to stop a team from getting 5-10 yards throwing underneath, quick passes over the middle a few yards passed the line of scrimmage...why don't more teams do that more often? That's all SF did pretty much that drive.

Middle of the field is where every offense in yje leagues is looking to exploit, unless you are Matt Canada. He is no longer in control of am offense for that very reason.

They just can’t sustain long drives. Due to penalties, turnovers, sacks etc. Therefore they try making bigger plays and that’s what the defenses are set to defend

If you repeatedly put the ball short in the middle of the field you're probably going to get most of your skilled players hurt. The middle of the field with those LBs and safeties taking free run shots will take a toll over the course of a game.
