Trumaine Johnson Update

Rams CB Trumaine Johnson has a sprained MCL and is expected to miss six weeks.
It's actually good news after Johnson was carted off in noticeable pain Saturday night. It had the looks of a possible season-ending injury. Johnson will certainly miss the opener, and may not be available before Week 2 or 3. The Rams may choose to hold him out through the Week 4 bye. Second-year CB Brandon McGee will likely fill in opposite Janoris Jenkins for the first few weeks of the season. The Johnson injury is a reminder to avoid overdrafting the Rams' fantasy defense, which boasts a talented front four but is leaky throughout the back seven.

The Rams should play Joyner over McGee. McGee gets beat way too often and Joyner is a big time hitter. Gaines and Reid should also be in the mix and Roberson as well.

The Panthers were able to hold up and make the playoffs last year with a no name secondary. Rams are made of a similar mold

Joyner is a nickel back. McGee outside. That's how I assume they'll handle it.

Yea I know Mutigers, but Joyner brings the heat alot and he is way better than McGee. They might want to re-think that designation.

I'm still not sure anybody is going to be able to cover anyone's WRs when the actual season starts up just due to the rule changes

Hey Clayton. I am thinking Jenkins is going to come out of his injury funk and have a good year. But McGee is going to get overwhelmed. They really should think about starting Joyner over McGee.

Yea I know Mutigers, but Joyner brings the heat alot and he is way better than McGee. They might want to re-think that designation.

Nickel guys are slot corners in todays NFL. Often slot guys are more of a threat than the #2 outside guy. It's obviously going to depend on the matchup but it makes sense to have him on the 2nd threat. If thats the slot guy then he plays the nickel position.

I think it depends. Week 1 is going to be Cordarelle Patterson and Greg Jennings so you figure the Rams will probably double Patterson and have an ugly looking one on one with Jennings and whoever gets to be the #2.
