The final team had a HOF player on their roster during most of the season, but released him in August.
Ah that gives it away then, it's the 1988 Dodgers and Don Sutton

If you just went through all the World Series winners and looked at the roster, you wouldn't think there was a third team because they had a HOF player on the team for most of the season. However, he was released in August so I counted them. The more I look at this the more skeptical I become that there is a 3rd team. Who is it?

Follow up question, what World Series winning team had the most Hall of Famers? (Basically asking which Yankees team had the most Hall of Famers).
After that, which non-Yankees World Championship team had the most Hall of Famers?
the second question: one of the Giants teams from the early 1920s.
how could I forget Larkin on the Reds

There were a lot on the Yankee teams from about 1927 to 1937, but have no idea on exactly which team had the most.
That's the challenge
But, therein kind of lies an issue. The trick, one that I have yet to master yet myself, is to ask questions that challenge. However, if you make them too challenging, then the trivia question tends to then turn into research, which is something all together different.
Like someone else was kind enough to already do in this thread, once it changes to research, I will bow out, in hopes that someone actually knows this info, as that is only fair, and the only way to keep these threads going and interesting.
Oh I understood that it wasn't the greatest question. That's why I asked it merely as a follow up while the original question merited its own thread in my opinion. It's also why I asked the second question about a non-Yankees team.
Either question requires some "research" though I'd say. I mean, I didn't scan every roster to get the two answers I gave to the first one but I looked at the list of World Series winners to try and get the second one (although as it turns out the answer was more recent and the guess that I made based on that research was wrong anyway!)
Okay then
1932 Yankees
1928 Cardinals
1932 Yankees is correct, the Cardinals answer is incorrect
How about the 1933 Cards?
