1981 Dodgers is another I think, unless Lasorda counts
Lasorda does not count, the 1981 Dodgers is correct. I specifically said "player" for that reason. Same reason 1984 counts even though Sparky Anderson was the manager

Didn't win prior to 1995. I put that because a lot of the players from World Series winners from 1996-present are not eligible for the Hall of Fame yet. Although I believe only Gary Sheffield has a chance at making the Hall for the '97 Marlins.

In a trick question sort of way, could it be the 1917 White Sox?

Nope they had 3, Eddie Collins, Red Faber, and Ray Schalk. Good guess though.

Ah I should have re-read the question rather than going with the version in my head, I would have seen that you specifically wrote "player".

All 3 answers had Hall of Fame managers. Makes sense considering they led World Championship teams without a single Hall of Fame player no?

Although to be fair I think the Tigers had two Hall of Famers on that team in Trammell and Whitaker. However the BBWAA is incompetent.

The final team had a HOF player on their roster during most of the season, but released him in August.

The more I look at this the more skeptical I become that there is a 3rd team. Who is it?

Wow, that is a tough one. The third had to be someone pre WWII.
