The video that has the Orangutan all spun up.

He used "other countries are laughing at us" all the time as an attack on Obama. Never any proof or anything, of course. Now there is proof that other countries are laughing. But at him specifically.

Alberta is becoming a have-not province...

Wait... so giving away ~$4.7B to corporations who turn around and layoff hundreds of workers is a bad idea? Trying to stimulate literally only one industry is bad economic policy? Who knew?

Oh yeah, pretty much any decent economist.

And the UPC is going down the Trump path, big time. Just blame everything on someone else. And the dumbass sheep in this province will still vote for them.

Kenney taking away incentives for IT startup companies in Alberta is another master stroke - You want to attract these type of people, not push them away.

On the one hand, cuts are necessary when you're a jurisdiction with that small of a tax base with that large of a deficit. The noise is always going to be louder with cuts (look at Ontario - teachers aren't getting the raise they want so every second commercial here now is how Ford is basically cutting actual children with butchers knives) but that doesn't mean they aren't necessary.

But a simultaneous corporate tax cut doesn't help.

The deficit thing in Alberta is such bullshit though. Lowest debt to population ratio in the country, so a year or two of deficits is not lethal. Also Kenney's budget, WITH ALL THE CUTS, has a greater deficit than the NDP were running for this year. And personal income taxes have gone up. You have to be a special kind of terrible to manage all of those things at once.

Oh and a simple 4% sales tax would immediately put Alberta in the black. But no one implements one. I swear I'm taking crazy pills out here.

The days of sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows are over. It's time for Alberta to have a sales tax.

This is the slipperiest slope though. This is what Ontario's governments said time and again and before you knew it our #1 budget item was debt financing.

High deficit spending when the national economy is healthy is always a bad idea IMO, "debt to GDP" or "debt to population" or any other statistic be damned.

And the truth is, AB's population has never been willing to tolerate deficits. Gov't deficits are a big reason the NDP got elected there in the first place (weird reaction TBH but, hey...).

So if this doesn't get corrected come next election, Kenney's probably screwed regardless.

I am sure the Attorney General role in a Democrat administration was dangled in front of her too, especially if the impeachment trial does move faster as it is looking now.

Since she questioned Jeff Sessions, I've wanted her to be the AG, so I'd be very happy with that outcome.
