Thing about impeachment is the republicans have to be onboard for it to pass.
If it doesn't pass, orange douche falsely claims exoneration and gives him momentum into election.
Republicans are too chickenshit to step up

Democrats don't get to be derelict in their duties of oversight just because Republicans might be. Besides, airing Trump's dirty laundry in public will be nothing but bad for him, and I can't see any political upside in Democrats simply deferring to Republicans' unwillingness to impeach their own guy. Fight a bit. It's more likely to mobilize Democratic voters in 2020, and they can get Trump out that way.

If Senate Republicans refuse to impeach, and Trump gets voted out, and is hit with various indictments the day he leaves office, too, that's not going to look good on them at all.

If Trump is voted out, I have a feeling you're going to have Republican senators trashing Trump in short order and disavowing all support that they ever had for him.

Also, on impeachment. Open the inquiries. You can hold off on actually voting on impeachment as long as you have something to talk about. You don't have to be sure of it right now. Start talking. There's plenty to say. Have hearings, uncover and make public evidence. Let the public see everything. Give the public a chance to change their minds. Stop letting them hide behind obfuscations of Republicans and the media and Trump himself.

The risk everyone brings up is, "He'll be bolstered when the Senate doesn't vote to impeach!" No, he won't. He's using inaction right now as an opportunity to claim he's been exonerated, despite the investigation we have public statements on saying exactly the opposite of that. Take away that ammunition. Take away his opportunity to deny. And let him shoot himself in both feet repeatedly while he continually melts down throughout the inquiry period. Drive him mad.

And the assumption that [uncompromised] Republican senators won't flip on Trump the moment the tide of public opinion makes that the politically convenient position is a bad one. If they smell blood, they'll flip.

I fear the country is irreparably damaged for a good, long time anyway.

As paragraphs go, this one is pretty good...

Finally, while we would not sink to name-calling in the Trumpian manner — or ruefully point out that he failed to spell the congressman’s name correctly (it’s Cummings, not Cumming) — we would tell the most dishonest man to ever occupy the Oval Office, the mocker of war heroes, the gleeful grabber of women’s private parts, the serial bankrupter of businesses, the useful idiot of Vladimir Putin and the guy who insisted there are “good people” among murderous neo-Nazis that he’s still not fooling most Americans into believing he’s even slightly competent in his current post. Or that he possesses a scintilla of integrity. Better to have some vermin living in your neighborhood than to be one.

I had this happen once too, except that it was the 44oz bottle of AstroGlide.

I said "Got a big Thursday planned"
