I think Harris would make a heck of a president, honestly, because she seems to strike a nice balance of being able to be decent to people, but also call them out for doing wrong. She wouldn't hang us out to dry internationally, and she'd prevent anyone from taking advantage of us in a way everyone would respect.

But.

She's a black woman, and you know at least half of White Middle America will be hunting for any excuse to not vote for her, just because of that. I think her path to the presidency would be torrid. Perhaps a cabinet position first would help. She'd probably do well in one, and that would build her resume enough to help her get by that Middle White America hurdle.

I expect Booker to test the waters, too. I think he'd be fine, but I fear his pharma connections being from New Jersey will either be used against him in campaign, or might actually actively affect his ability to get something useful done on healthcare.

Hillary lost the last election because big swaths of the Democratic base stayed home. Black voter turnout was lower. Latino voter turnout was lower. Get those two numbers alone higher and Hillary almost surely wins MI, WI and PA and is president today, and that's even including the spike in White voter turnout.

Give these people a Kamala and believe me, they're turning out.

Give these people a Kamala and believe me, they're turning out.

I would be just fine with her or Elizabeth Warren as the VP nom. Feels like there is still too much venom attached to women candidates for the top job. Either one could cause a huge turnout the other way just to vote against them.


Plus, either would shred Pence in a debate.

Not sure who I would put at the top.

It got even tougher when the sexual harassment accusations came out against Donald Trump and the GOP had about 4 million to lob at the husband she stood by and defended and said was the victim of a "right wing witch hunt" for decades.

Another woman wouldn't have that issue (Warren would have much bigger problems with her made up Indian ancestry than her gender).

A key issue for sure, but not the only one. I personally heard a number of people making jokes/maybe being not so jokey about what would happen if a foreign leader pissed her off at "that time of the month". It is a bit of a meme, but there are a fair number of "beta" males who hate anything female. They liked Trump because he puts them bitches in their place and grabs their pussies whenever he wants. They are real. Hard to say how many there are, but her standing by her husband wasn't the only issue she faced. Agreed that it was a huge problem for her, but it wasn't everything.

She didn't do herself any favors with women for sure. Hopefully any woman candidate would be smart enough to avoid that next time out. Don't assume that possessing the same plumbing equals them voting for you.
