Boston should really think about building a new stadium on the scenic Charles River. :pound:

It could be built with Legos and the sports media would crown it "baseball's greatest achievement."

ain't gonna happen

if an earthquake crumbled fenway today, they would rebuild all they could to restore it back to the original size/shape.

Some guy on the MLB board got tore the fuck up when I said something about how everyone associated with the Astros (personnel, players, media, fans) knew full well that Jeff Bagwell roided like a motherfucker. Said he had never heard anything of the sort. In fact, it might have been that dick ImSmartherThanYou who would argue that the sky isn't blue and the universe isn't big.

imsmartherthanyou is a yankees fan. let's forgive him.

jeff bagwell argument may have been JD. i remember something like that a while back but i cant remember if it was CBS or here.

No need to make it any bigger cause we know when they don't do well no one shows up.

Same in NY.

Same in Philly, etc.

nope

here's a brock fact: i was never a die hard sox fan until pedro came in 1998. before '98 i liked baseball in general. including the yankees.

my favorites were dwight evans, dennis eckersley, john olerud, ricky henderson, nolan ryan, exc.... didn't matter what team they were on.

Man, I remember how exciting that A's team was with Eckersley, Dave Stewart, Canseco, McGwire, Carney Lansford, Mike Gallego, Terry Steinbach, etc. When Eck was at his best, he was truly untouchable. I remember games when no one could even foul a ball of that guy. Literally would get three strikeouts and no one ever even foul tipped a ball.

I don't think I've ever argued with JD. This guy was pretending like Bagwell was innocent as the driven snow and I was making shit up. Hell, Bagwell used to openly joke "off the record" with Astros media about it.

vividly

greg harris was on the mound, the guy that petitioned to be allowed to throw righty and lefty in same appearance

Sox got screwed that game

I remember that guy. And, that reminds me of another guy. The spelling is off, but his name is like Pat Vendette or something. Was going to be the first truely ambidextrious pitcher, but, I guess he stalled out in the minors or something, asI never hear anything about him anymore.

Not sure.

If it weren't for Mike Gallego, that would have been the tallest baseball team ever. Remember they had Don Baylor, Dave Henderson and Dave Parker too. And Ron Hassey (sp?) was the backup catcher. Probably averaged 6' 4".

As there now seems to be 2 Indians fans in our midst -

The Indians are trying to create a playoff atmosphere in Cleveland, and not just at the ballpark.
The club is encouraging fans to "show their Tribe pride" on Thursday by wearing Indians gear to work and class, according to a club news release. Entering Wednesday a half-game behind Texas and Tampa Bay in the crowded American League Wild Card race, Cleveland returns home Thursday for four games against Houston and two against the White Sox.
The Indians are also inviting fans wearing Tribe gear at their offices and schools to tweet pictures to @Indians using the hashtag #TribeTown. The team will retweet and share those photos with its followers.
According to the team, a limited supply of $10 upper bleacher tickets remain available for most of the Indians' six remaining home games. The Indians entered Wednesday ranking 28th in the Majors in attendance this year, drawing an average of 19,435 fans per home game -- more than only Miami (19,267) and Tampa Bay (18,553).
The Indians are seeking their first postseason appearance since 2007, and several players have noted how much of an impact their fans can make down the stretch.
"That extra man is a good push to have," center fielder Michael Bourn said recently. "It gets your blood flowing a little bit. ... We try to give them a good show every time they come out."

Even when they had that team record for sellouts, at the end of season they seems to discount the bleachers or maybe it was bc it was 7 or 8 years ago.

Billy Hamilton is starting for the Reds against the Astros tonight. If it is on T.V, it very well could be "must see" stuff.

Was the ball actually in the infield? That is where that rule has gone so wrong of late.
Nope. Was in the outfield... Grant Green was backpedaling and he ended up dropping it. Outfielders actually could've made a play on the ball.

So instead of having bases loaded with 1 out. They had 2nd/3rd with 2 outs. GG Umps.
