Maybe. But he is one we will open the checkbook for. I don't see anyone paying him more than what we will pay.

Agreed! We already have four OL that would be backups at best. Why on earth would be let our only legitimate OT go? With that being said, of all the players on our roster, he is the player that we can least afford to lose.

What's up with the "we won't let him leave crap?" I'm pretty sure that there is universal consent among posters here that allowing Williams to walk is a mistake, however consider who really makes that decision. A consensus of posters or the guy who thought it wise to franchise Brian Orakpo and not address other needs! Sadly, I think he walks because of a salary dispute.

Because teams tend to overpay to retain their key players an LT is a key position obviously. Trent is good but let's not pretend he is Joe Jacoby. I understand he is still hurt but he just hasn't been that great this year, he was terrible, again, in the running game yesterday.

Now if we have a top 3 pick or pay t williams 15 mill year what would be the best interest of the team draft a lt in the top 3 or pay williams a lot of money to stay but then have no money for nothing else. Best thing would let williams walk and draft the best left tackle

How about fill other needs with that high pick and not rely on an unproven draft pick that could be Tony Mandarich?

Cap money to resign Williams is not an issue. We have the space. There are a couple of positions that you pay top dollar for to get a PB talent. LT is one of those positions. While he is having an off year, his track record is such that we should expect him to continue to be a shut down LT for the next 3-5 years. Pay the guy and move one to address other weaknesses. We have enough holes already, we don't need to create more.

Completly agree.....Good LT get good Money....Elite..Probowl tackles get the Mega Money...... Williams is in the later catagory....You pay the man you know can dominate.......and like said above......YOU DONT CREATE more needs on the team by letting a talent at LT walk!!!!..We have enough holes on the roster..No need to remove trent from the equation, and HOPE that the guy you draft can fill his shoes....
