Rob Base -- you are going to the Lions practice on Thursday? If so, let me know. I live literally 3 miles from their practice facility in Allen Park.

I wanted to go up there to watch a practice, so that'd give me a good excuse to do so. Just have to make sure the wife doesn't have anything going on that day.

I hear that Leshoure looks faster this year. Anyone else hear that?

Swarm: I was in the D this weekend for gambling, tattooing, and Lions practice. I was surprised at how interesting the practice was. Without pads on the one on one match ups for the receiving drills were cool to watch. I will be curious if your observation about our LB's is the same as mine. Which was that I don't think they could cover me. It was embarrassing to watch. When that TE from Bama whose 40 was clocked using a sun dial has T. Lewis beat by three yards on a 8 yard post and he is battling for a starting job that can't be good. It was pretty much the same for all of them.

I actually spent a fair amount of time watching the kickers and punters once they began running the team drills. Neither punter was impressive and hopefully you will get to see kickalicous back it up and show that leg strength. It is REALLY noticeable between he and Akers. He barely looks like he is trying and will boom it over the net from 30 yards out.

Have fun there. You will likely get to see them in pads (can someone say Oklahoma) so that should be fun. Give us your scouting report when you return. My standouts were Patrick Edwards and Kickalicous on the plus side and the negatives were every LB and on that day Chaz Shillens, who bobbled everything thrown his way and the sound the ball made when it thumped into his hands was very noticeable whereas you couldn't hear a sound when it went into the hands of CJ, Broyles, and Edwards. I hear he has looked pretty good recently though so hopefully he was just off a bit that morning.

Anyways -- if I don't have daddy duties -- what time are you guys planning on going? I know the gates open at 8:45, but people start getting there way earlier, like 6 a.m., so they can get a good seat.

That's my fear. Is Leshoure really that much faster, or do our LBs in fact suck? Or is a combination of both.
