I don't think its completely out of the question... if there's a fear of losing him to FA. The Thunder could get much more back if they trade him at the deadline vs doing a sign and trade in the offseason.

I think it would also require the Thunder to be playing bad at the trade deadline though. If they are all healthy next year (and they are due for a year of health)... I imagine they'll be playing at a high level and winning a lot of games. No way do they trade him if they're having a great year.

But, IF they badly underperform next season and it starts to look like Durant will walk... I could see it happening. Those are pretty big IFs though.

OKC wasn't big enough for Westbrook, Harden, or KD. Could it be that Westbrook is the problem. He wants to be the #1 and #2 Option.

It could if he's asking for a trade or telling them he won't sign his contract is up. Oklahoma won't has always held the position that their players take less money no matter what in order to stay a team.

That's what I say - If they trade him, they can get something for him like they did for Harden. It also opens the field because they could easily ask the Lakers for example for their top 5 pick this summer. For the Lakers it would be an instant team that makes the Lakers contenders again. In addition Durant has seen injuries this season and they might be spooked. I say do it Thunder and give him to the Lakers for their first round draft pick

He is out the door the first nanosecond of free agency

So, it is a difficult position for that team to handle

Yeah, think the Thunder hold onto Durant as long as possible.

OkC will pay Max money fit Durant and Westbrook and anyone thinking a trade is coming is just wishing.

I don't KD or Westbrook is worried about the money. They both are making enough and KD isn't that selfish of a player to chase the money. However this is about talent level and being able to play besides one another and is the chemistry right enough to win an NBA championship.

I've seen stranger things happen man - No one is safe from the trade issue if things go sour enough. It's not about max money alone, but it's about if KD still believes in Oklahoma to build a championship team. I would arge they don't believe they will but I believe they could if they desired. So far they have allowed players critical to winning their first championship go because they have adhered to a budget. I have my doubts about them leaving that plan now

Just saying KD will not be traded, Presti would be escorted out of town. I expect Westbrooks recent surge is going to continue even when KD comes back. KD has nothing to prove on an individual level.
