Dumbo clearly wanted another top 6 D and in doing so, chances are, the only way the Flyers would get rid of Schenn was if Vinny came along with him.

Well Vinny was part of the plan, according to dean he wanted to make the 3C stronger. Schenn was approved by Doughty and with Greene gone, this is who they feel replaces him.

We are taking them both on for half a season and Vinny we walk away from since hes retiring. I honestly don't mind this as a depth move at Center and at Defense.

Nothing wrong with this deal, Vinny is all but done but is a better choice then Shore/Andreoff right now. Shenn has been disappointing but can be a good fit since his "job" will be very simple in LA. Weal was never going to crack the lineup in LA, he is to small and doesn't fit with the system so he is perfect for Philly. Im sure he will be touted as the next "somebody". As long as Vinny retires this should be a nice deal for the Kings

That's just stupid, sure Vinny could totally suck...but have they watched Shore and Andreoff? IMO there is at least a possibility Vinny could do something more then those guys right now. Just because he sucked on a sucky team doesn't really mean anything...its not like Philly is now winning because he hasn't been playing there. Here he doesn't need to do much but be a 3rd or 4th C and I think he can do that. If he sucks we lost a 3rd round pick and a guy that couldn't beat out Shore and Andreoff for icetime anyways so its really not much of a loss for LA and there is actually a chance Shenn can just be the RH sah that doesn't need to be the next "Adam Foote". In Philly these guys are tasked to do more then then can, in LA they have simple jobs and should be fine

I honestly wouldnt put much into what the Philly media has to say. They hate Vinny because they misused him and then just tried to forget about him. These are the same guys that thought Carter was a terrible player and he and Richards will never win anything.

Philadelphia is a special kind of stupid place, after the trade I was reading articles all over essentially saying how they "won this trade" yet again.

Checked their retained salaries recently? It's a ton of dead cap space in Grossman, Lecavalier, MacDonald, Gagne, Schenn not to mention all those years they paid Pronger and had to or face massive cap issues.

Just not a smart organization but at least Hextall is trying to correct all that.
