Bjorkstrand is a really nice player and Gourde obviously is well known to the Lightning brass but this feels like an overpayment. Gourde has, IMO, been in steady decline since his time with the Lightning. Still a decent player but I wouldn't give a 1st round pick for him. A 2nd would still be a maybe. So two 1sts for Oliver? Too rich for my blood.

I think this season more than any other in recent memory looks like if you make the playoffs, anything could happen.

Of course, this little tidbit has direct implications for the Flames...

On June 19, 2024, the Flames traded Jacob Markstrom to New Jersey for Kevin Bahl and a conditional 2025 first-round pick. If New Jersey's first-round pick in 2025 is in the top 10, then their 2026 first-round pick transfers instead.

I believe that 2026 pick is unprotected and that's the McKenna draft. Not sure if I should root for the Devils this year and to take a major step back next season.
