Let me add this about Giles...He was one of the Phillies top prospects and suppose to be their closer of the future and they knew to move him in a trade when they had the chance.

Exactly. I would trade Diaz in the right deal because closers (or relievers in general) are screwed in the head and will implode w/o a warning.

I would trade Bedard 2.0 in the right deal right now as well. I have posted this a few times, but the greatest 'ability' in sports is 'availability'.

This is the one thing that sucks about being good this year. They could have set the organization up for a decade. The biggest needs for teams were starters and bullpen arms. The Mariners have Paxton, Leblanc and Leake who could have been dealt along with Diaz and Pazos. Paxton and Diaz would've been the two most targeted pieces in baseball. I love Diaz but since Putz the Mariners had an all star caliber closer one year turn to dog poo the next.

And I doubt they pass through August waivers.

mariners could start cano at 2b gordan in CF...then have cano at first ,..by the end of the game
and gordan at 2b and haniger or heredia in CF..by the end of the game

What are you talking about? He also suggested that St.L would be open trading Poncdeleon who just threw 7 hitless in MLB debut. That's not a legit option? :trash:

3.69 ERA 26 K's in 31.6 inning, 35 hits, 11 walks.

This will solve all our problems...

Tuivailala holds a 3.04 ERA across 74 relief innings over the last two seasons but hasn't missed as many bats (60 strikeouts) as his velocity suggests he should. Still, he's a quality middle relief addition for the Mariners and is under team control through 2022.

The #STLCards have acquired minor league RHP Seth Elledge from the Mariners in exchange for RHP Sam Tuivailala. Elledge, 22, was 5-1 with a 1.17 ERA and 9 saves in 31 games for Modesto (A) while being named a California League All-Star. He has been assigned to Springfield (AA).

So we gave up a guy dominating A ball hitters for a guy who has done well against major leaguers. Sounds good to me. Hopefully a replacement for Nicasio going forward.

Shows this team is addressing issues to win this year while also getting guys who can help in the future.

What is this guy's role going to be I wonder? Unless Nicassio comes up with some mysterious injury I'm not sure where I see him at in the pen. But don't know anything about him besides his numbers, can he long relief?

They said he is lights-out against righties but can't get a lefty out to save his life. Maybe they actually go away from this late inning everybody pitches the entire inning crap.

Sure is fun watching the better teams making sweet deals- when is Jerry going to make a "sweet" deal?
