Is it actually the Leafs or is it Leaf fans. I agree though; FFS, stopping 49 of fifty shots is about the modern day equivalent of turning lake Erie water into wine (and not just that baby duck variety).
Before last night Bernier had started 4 of 5 and Reimer had only one start in November that wasn't part of a back to back. "Win and you're in" didn't apply when Reimer won the previous Saturday since they went back to Bernier on Tuesday. But then when Bernier won on Tuesday they gave him Thursday's game.
Look at Reimer's game log, especially since he came back from the bump from Leivo in the Carolina game
10/1 @MON (back to back)
10/5 vs OTT (pulled halfway)
10/15 vs MIN
10/17 vs CAR (played less than a minute, pulled for injury)
10/26 vs PIT (back to back)
10/29 @EDM (back to back)
11/2 @VAN
11/9 @BOS (back to back)
11/16 vs BUF (back to back)
11/23 vs WAS
To me that looks more like the game log of a backup than a "co-starter". He's played 515 of 1393 minutes so far, which over a full season would be 30 of 82 games. Would you be happy playing less than 37% of the time if you were leading the league in save % and just carried your team on your back to the playoffs for their first time in a dog's age last year?
