In my opinion Alf is going to want 6-7 mil per season next year and he is simply not worth the money. I like the guy too but to pass on a first round pick I think is a bit crazy. If Murray got 8 last year Alf is atleast going to want 6.

I agree with you on the cash he'll want. I just don't think anyone will offer a first rounder for him due to his status as a free agent.

Murry didnt get $8 though. The deal averages out to $8 million a year over five years. But in reality his cap hit this year is $5 million.

So then I wil lask, what do you think he will get, and how much do you think would be fair to keep him?? With the going market for a star RB being $15 million (AP) on the high end, and $1.5 million (Alf) as the low end right now.... What numbers do you reasonably expect?? To me, if Alf has another 1000+ yard season, $5 million is a steal.

Not sure, but I don't really look at the AAV of the contract. I look at the guaranteed money. That's where I think GMSM draws the line. I think someone is going to throw a lot of money at him and that will be more than we're willing to pay.

I'd guess Alf gets 15M guaranteed at least. Let's not forget that Cousins is a FA this year as well so if he plays well, he'll get a huge pay raise.

Having Alf is also crucial to Kitk's game. While Matt Jones can do a lot of the same things Morris can, I question if he could play a full fame at that intensity.

If they offer a first for Alf you have to take it. That would be a best case scenario... But teams would probably want to trade a second at most

Shark no way Alf will sign for 5. He will be the #1 FA RB on the market. I thought Murray gets 8. Didn't Dallas offer a big number to keep him?

That's right. If KC has a good year he is going to want at least 6-8 mil per season.

I change my vote to yes. Building a team happens by making smart long term decisions. Alf will probably be gone next year so get what you can for him, on the condition that Matt Jones keeps showing up

Actually Forte is a FA next year. He will be 29.

No one is going to give us a 1st round pick for what amounts to a 14 game rental RB. He is a FA at the end of the year. Heck it wouldn't even be 14 games. It would take a couple weeks for him to learn the offense to be at full productivity.

As for next year, Morris may be worth 5m on the market, but I don't see him getting it here if Jones proves to be the real deal. We just can't afford that luxury. AM will get caught in the numbers game, as many RBs do.

I think Atl would want ALf the most. Which means they could overpay. Isnt Coleman hurt?

Murray got $21 million in guaranteed money over five years. So in effect, $4.2 million a year in guaranteed money. Alf is costing us $1.6 million this year. Would any one really complain if we took a cap hit of $5 million a year for him at this point??

Yep. Also - as mentioned here already - RB is about the easiest position to replace so why would any team offer a 1st rounder for a RB (not named Peterson)? Given the Redskins' luck I can almost guarantee that if they trade Morris then Jones will be hurt w/i the next game or two.

Just depends on our cap situation and who we couldn't sign because we gave AM his payday. Does he deserve a pay raise? Absolutely. I hope it's here, but I'm afraid it won't be.

One, I think you are kind of Biased here because you want the draft pick (although for the life of me I cant see why you are willing to basically tank the season for a mid to late first rounder)

Two, even if it does come out to be the exact same deal that Murray got, why wouldnt you do the deal if Alf is coming off of a 1100+ yard season even WHEN he was splitting carries?? Its one less piece we have to replace. Or do you honestly think we could simply draft another 3rd rounder to replace him??

Three... lets say we do make the trade and ATL DOES in fact give us the 1st rounder... you really think a mid to late first rounder is worth more than an established RB going into next year??

The only deal really hurting us on the cap right now is the one for he who shall not be named. We dump that boat anchore and the only reason we couldnt resign Alf and any one else coming up on their contract would be if we decided we HAD to have some one elses over priced FA.

Here is ther list of our own pending FA's

Anthony McCoy
Kedric Golston
Will Blackmon
*Terrance Knighton
Logan Paulsen
*Darrel Young
Colt McCoy
?Junior Galette
Frank Kearse
Justin Rogers
*Alfred Morris
?Trenton Robinson
Josh LeRibeus
*Keenan Robinson
*/?Kirk Cousins
Tom Compton
?Duke Ihenacho
Chris Thompson
?Will Compton
*Tress Way

I have put a * next to those i think we likely will try to keep, and a ? beside those who are TBD.

I believe the first rounder is worth it b/c like jy19 said he wont be here next year. I think he is going to want more than 5 million. No way SM passes on a first rounder. Yes Alf can be replaced in the offseason. Its not like we are trading away Forte or Peterson. Alf is not a top 10 RB in the NFL.
