It looks like this is a position-strengthening tactic by Bettman going into the CBA talks, as the NHLPA doesn't like the way the appeals go from the head of the NHL supplemental discipline guy to the league commissioner.

I just saw the hit on Hossa. That looked pretty bad and he's got a rap sheet, so I say he gets at least three games for that.
