Top Ten Most Hated NHL Players of all Time

Honorable mentions: Beukaboom, Lucic, Cooke (who is mildly retarded, not inherently violent), Brashear, Derek Roy and Darius Kasparaitis. I can't really hate Dale Hunter because I saw so much of the good he did in the lean years. He was a prick, but not 100% of the time.

You don't have to be necessarily violent or dangerous to make my list. Being disrespectful to the game and your team/city/fans earns you hate points from me.

Prust, Pronger, Avery, Gillies, Thornton, ...? I was watching in the 90's/00's, but not enough to know who I hated. There are other guys that annoy the crap out of me, but I don't hate them.

Seriously as a player, Coach, GM and then listening to his insane dribbles on TV I would like to add Mike Milbury.

Another who I hated but probably more for the fact he tried to hard to be a douche but failed miserably was Troy Mallette.

But a list of all time most hated has to include fellows like Ted Lindsay and Eddie Shore.

I agree with a lot of these lists, but I cannot believe that nobody mentioned Chris Simon or that douche-bag Neil (still with Ottawa?)
Also agree with BG Dave (as I seem to pretty often) that the modern guys...even Lemieux...are Nobel Prize winners compared Terrible Ted and Eddie Shore...and Mr Hockey too!

Avery began his NHL career under Scotty Bowman and Steve Yzerman in the '01-'02 season. He was traded to Los Angeles the following season.

I've always wondered if Stevie Y had a hand in exiling Avery because he showed signs of being a cancer the moment he slipped on the winged wheel or if his career may have turned out differently if he had spent more time with The Captain.
