Defense- Robinson wins( pretty close)
Career longevity- Robinson wins(3000 more PA)

intangibles- Robinson wins
2 WS wins + a WS MVP, and a Regular season MVP
Vs rolen only one WS win and No MVPs...

This one is tough... They are so close... We got Robinson who is seen to be the best defensive 3B vs Rolen...

Rolen was a better hitter, but not significantly, while Robinson was a better defender, but not significantly...

This is so close that I have to go with the intangibles and the playoffs... Brooks Robinson was significantly better there...

OPS+ (Robinson/Rolen)
120 - 5/10
130 - 1/3
140 - 1/1
150 - 0/1

Clear win for Rolen.

oWAR7
Robinson - 32.2
Rolen - 33.5

Close win for Rolen.

SBs
A complete non-issue for Robinson. While not a major weapon for Rolen, he did have good rates and 5 seasons with 10+ swipes.

Clear win for Rolen.

Defense - Robinson is considered the GOAT. But Rolen is one of only a handful of players who belongs in the conversation with him. That is what makes this such a fun matchup.

Close win for Robinson.

Post-Season
Robinson had 4 series' with an OPS better than 1.000, and 2 rings in 9 total series'.
Rolen had 3 series' at 1.000+ and one ring in 9 total series'. However, he did have the key error in the '12 NLDS that arguably cost the Reds the series.

Close win for Robinson.

Damn, this a tough one. My gut says "Duh, it was Robinson!". But the analysis makes it very close. Rolen was a marginal offensive threat while Robinson was really just a contributor. Both were considered their generation's best defensive 3B.

Robinson has an extra ring and is a face of an organization, so I will go with him, but that is almost a coin flip.

Robinson because of longevity. I think Rolen was a better ballplayer though. I think the gap offensively is bigger than the gap defensively. To Robinson's credit, he was a pretty damn good hitter at his peak.

Yesterday, I considered Rolen a boarder line HOFer, at best. Now I think he is firmly on my list.

Thanks, Oxy...
