IDK what to say here. Beltre has had a tremendous career, but as far as the all time greats you wouldn't think he is as high as he is on some career lists. Sadly for Cross, who was one of the better players of his era, he will be a side note to Beltre on this thread.

Beltre's been really good. He was one of the greatest defensive 3B of all-time, if not one of the best defensive players in the history of baseball. He wasn't as good as Brooks defensively, but Beltre was a much better hitter.

the ONLY knock on Beltre is that he doesn't walk... But he is a clear HOFer IMO... whats not to like, a power hitter, with a good enough BA, AND a great defender...

Beltre been great and is deserving of the HOF, but what I was trying to say is he snuck into the conversation. If you looked at Beltre after the 2009 season you would never think we would be discussing him as a HOFer.

I kind of agree... the only thing though is that we may have appreciated that he was a good defender, but the stats from 2009-now have evolved enough to show us HOW much better defensively he was than the rest of his peers at 3B... If it was just his offensive numbers, his ratios are nothing too special...

Beltre is a candidate for East Coast Bias. If he had been playing his game in the AL East, people would've been giving him way more love for way longer.

I loved watching him in his only year with the Sox. Since then, I try to watch as many Rangers games as possible. At least when the Sox aren't on.
