Once Hornsby leaves the board you can sell me on a number of players here.

Hornsby has been my #1 for a few slots now. Wagner is real close as well. Speaker is a few notches below them. Johnson and Clemens deserve consideration. Henderson should start getting some noms, I think. ARod should be getting attention.

Going forward, do you think you could list the nominees alphabetically? Not to say that you necessarily want Walter Johnson to win this round, but I think putting him at the top might inadvertently help his cause.

So far, Honus Wagner 2 votes. Shohei Ohtani 4 votes. Like to sell some of you some murder mysteries I have with the last few pages torn out
These Ohtani votes perplex me. If you were to close his book now, without him ever stepping on the field again, no way in hell does he get into this discussion. His only inclusion would be as a “what could have been”.

I agree that he has potential to unseat Babe. But that is only POTENTIAL. People are fighting too hard to challenge “legend bias” by voting him this early. It wasn’t that long ago that Trout was being called the GOAT. No one is making those arguments any more.

Junior Griffey and Dwight Gooden are other examples. The numbers Junior put up in his first 10-11 was jaw dropping. 400 homers before age 30. If this was the year 2000 he would get votes. Doc was another. If anyone seen him pitch in 1985 would would be sure he would own the 20th Century record book. Is Shohei going to keep this up, good numbers but not this level. I have to think the Dodgers will pull the plugg on the two way stuff before another TJ surgery. Then he's a lifetime DH

But haven’t you heard? He probably has the potential to be a GG OFer as well. So that needs to be factored in also.

I still kinda think Trout should be the modern player people rally around. You at least have 9 legendary seasons by my count.

I am listing them based on how many votes the received in the previous round. That tends to put the more likely candidates at the top. And I don’t know who I will be adding at the bottom until I get there.

I think his HIF ticket is already punched. And given some room to breathe, MAYBE he deserves a top 15 spot or so. But between the two, I agree that Ohtani should be getting the love.

I think we'll get to him, depending on how far we take this.

I could see top 15 or so but Ohtani top 50 is projection

I'd say Ichiro. Yeah, yeah weak power. But he did everything else as good as anyone I seen and I seen a lot.

I will re-add Trout to the next poll. If any single player gets mentioned in the debates, I try to add them in the next poll.

Well, he should have been off the boards a couple rounds ago....
