Rumors I saw were ACL and PCL...which wouldn't be a 14 month ordeal. However, he had LCL damage, and I'd be absolutely shocked if MCL was okay. That mechanism SCREAMED MCL. Add that to his meniscus history (right?) and you have quite a messy situation. Then it all depends on what they decide to do with his meniscus. Generally you have to be non-weight bearing after meniscus surgery, which would delay ACL rehab, but not to the point of 14 months. Really no idea where that # comes from. Not many injuries take that long any more.

Pix,

I saw it and said MCL as well, which goes with the ACL a lot but that ACL was a graft, so maybe it survived.

I find it hard to believe he could have walked off the field, gone out and shook hands, walked to the podium, etc with both the ACL and PCL gone. I think it is speculation at best, oh and these are my feelings on it in more caps and curse words:

I don't think it's really fair to blame injuries on the turf/field. Most of the time they're freak accidents, a guy getting rolled up on, etc. Turf is just as dangerous as a muddy field, because you still play football on it. Obviously you don't play with large divets all over, etc, but over the course of a game it happens.

Rewatching the game, Chris Clemons' injury very much looks field related. Nobody hit him low, just planted in the slop and his knee buckled.

RG3 went to plant to retrieve the muffed handoff ... sayonara knee ... no contact

that field yesterday was THE problem

@DanHellie
Report out of Richmond from WRIC about @RGIII tearing ACL/PCL and being out 14-18 months is false. They are recanting story.

@SportsCenter
RGIII will require further tests on injured right knee after MRI proved inconclusive because of previous ACL tear.

Are you saying that is was some kind of muff dive from RG3?

You might be able to say the field contributed, but guys get injured ALL the time without contact because of a funny step, an awkward turn, etc. I don't want to be the guy defending the field, because it clearly was in terrible condition. I played soccer year round for years on AWFUL, AWFUL fields without an injury and then severely sprained on a gym floor playing volleyball. But blaming the field ignores tons of injuries where guys legs just go the wrong way. Knee injuries happen most often when you plant your leg, it turns wrong, and your foot doesn't budge. On a field that gives more, you should be LESS likely to hurt your knee because your footing gives way and allows the tension to disseminate. Injuries can happen ANYTIME, just ask this guy...

What I'm saying is that injury would've happened on either field. RG3's at least.

Something people don't fully understand: ACL tears differ a LOT between people. We had a soccer player tear it, go down, hop back up and jog around for awhile on it, and proceed to play a few weeks. You can't consider that a sign of anything. That said, I have no clue where PCL is coming from. None. PCL injuries are so few and far between, and his mechanism is very much so MCL. PCL is known as the "dashboard" injury because it's common in car crashes when knees are against the board and it pushes the tibia posteriorly. I'd watch for medial meniscus though, as the ACL attaches to it and can often tear it. I'm not sure that having a graft affects things in a positive way either. They're not necessarily stronger than a normal ACL.

I don't think he should be fired...but he owes his team doc a freaking apology. One of the most talented men in the world, treated like nothing. I'd say ownership should get involved, but it's Snyder...sooooo...

RG3 has a partially torn ACL & LCL, but Mike Shannahan thinks he can still play in the Pro Bowl.

Some in the media actually think Shanahan should be fired over this. Unbelivable.

You need to quantify that statement. Because the DC media blames the Redskins coach whenever anything happens, including Nor'Easters.
