You know what? You win. Geno Smith is the luckiest QB in the history of the NFL and will surely return to what he was 8 years ago if we resign him. If it weren't for the terrible defenders that he threw the ball at he probably would have broken the record for interceptions in the season.

I don't know why I bother with people that engage in hyperbole about everything.

As annoying as you could be, you at least you responded to what other people said.

I don't get why people are so obsessed with Geno. No one thinks he's close to elite. He is never going to carry this team to a championship. But this is where we are right now. We are a team with some really good offensive players and a pretty mediocre defense and an above average QB. Basically we are the Titans from 3 years ago. I honestly don't care what we do at QB other than I believe we have ZERO chance of getting back to a Super Bowl without DRASTIC improvements on defense.

One extreme to another.
Not once did I say he was the luckiest QB ever in the NFL but he sure as hell had a VERY lucky season in 2022.

I just think if they played this season 10 times in a row 9 times out of 10 he is closer to that 80% not 48% and that means a lot. Most likely means a 5-11 season also.

This is what you said. "I still can't believe how lopsided his luck was last year. Dude played the lottery and won, good for him".

I guess we watched different football games. Because there wasn't a game last season that I think Geno was the primary reason we lost.

I didn't watch Richardson much, but he seems to be very physically gifted. Bound to be a surprise or 2 at QB in round 1 I would think.

he is all hype based on his athletic ability. I didnt check this stat, but supposedly he completed LESS THAN 40% of his passes down field. if thats true, he is a 3rd round talent tops.

but if a team wants to be stupid and reach for him then thats good for us.

I think it just goes to show how uncertain all these QBs are.

Ask 10 different scouts and you will get 10 rankings of the top 4

Given Schneider's track record (at least what we've heard) I'm putting full faith in that guy if we take a QB at #5... and there's a glaring need. Geno is not a long term answer..

I constantly see mocks with 4 QBs going top 10, which shows that draft gurus feel this is a strong QB draft.

Cam Newton is the best comparison to Richardson IMO, if he has the same type of career most teams would be happy with that. Panthers likely take him if he is still on the board unless they move up to target a different QB.

there were mocks that had us taking malik willis at the top of the draft, this one had us trading up and it was publish days before the draft:

dude fell to #86

draft guru's know about as much as the rest of us. the ones that "know" things have contacts on the inside.

But couldn't it also just mean that these so-called draft gurus feel the demand for QBs is particularly high among those teams owning early picks?

With regards to Richardson... if you're barely completing 50% of your passes in College... you're not going to work in the NFL.

It goes far beyond what you can physically do, it has to do with your ability to read the field/defense, make smart throws, and run an effective offense.

I do NOT want Richardson with #5 overall let alone the 1st round. Not to mention he had an injury a few months ago that I think was leg related. Guy has Tim Tebow written all over him. And Richardson can barely hold a candle to Newton... Newton was completing 65%+ of his passes his final (well and really only) year and DOMAINTED teams in rushing... I mean it was borderline ridiculous, he was at one point on pace for 2K yards on the ground. Richardson doesn't even come close.

Good, then we can trade down to the Panthers and acquire another 2nd in 2023 and probably 2024 if Carter, Anderson, and Stroud are gone.

Would be pretty damn happy with this (no trades assumed):

1677435187161.png

Still have to address Center, ILB, and DT/NT... but the rest would be set. Nwosu was playing way too many snaps last year so Ness/McDonald should reduce that drastically.. we'd have an amazing group of pass rushers.... I didn't go beyond the 3rd round but that's where you can typically find some good run stuffers.

I saw Mocks last year that had 3 QB's going in the 1st round. Most of the talking heads put to much Value on QB's. I mean I understand why they do but meh.

I don't actually see a top 10 worthy QB in this class. Every top QB's stock dropped in the 2022 College season, many should have came out last year because none of them really helped them selves at all.

I really like Stroud, but not a fan of the rest of the QBs.

I understand you on that and in my eyes he is the only one really worthy of a 1st round pick. QB's are over valued and get over drafted ALL THE TIME. Hell they could be the 50th best player in collage but if they are the best QB they go top 10. It's one of the ONLY positions that value is more important than actual talent.
