I can see them trading down from that spot to pick up another good pick or 2, but I doubt they would be willing to drop all the way out of the 1st round with that pick.Well the investigation part was a little hyperbole. But why would we trade out of our best draft spot in 15 years?
For draft capital. Look at how amazing our future 1st rounder from Denver became. Trade that to the 9th to 12th pick and pick up an additional 2nd rounder and a 2024 1st rounder would be a good deal don't you think? Then rinse and repeat with that 12 pick to a 19th to 23rd pick and get an additional 2nd rounder and 2024 1st rounder.Well the investigation part was a little hyperbole. Or we can use our best draft spot in 15 years on the safest pick in the draft
I don't want another Aaron Curry situation. I'd much rather have a shotgun approach with 6+ 2nd rounders with a lot to look forward to in the 2024 draft. If we can build enough future capitol to essentially buy that #1 pick for our future QB, then what isn't there to like about that strategy?
Very possible, and if that is the case, then we keep the picks we have, but I am always a fan of trading down. Belichick was a master of this, and built a very successful franchise using this tactic. We don't need that 5th pick this year, and it could be very valuable to other teams.I think you are wildly overestimating how many teams are going to want to move up.

The 5th spot is also equivalent to the 16th and 26th picks. Not sure what value is given to 2024 picks
You're probably right, but if that is the case, they will end up overpaying from the traditional trade value chart. It was really a shame that Denver win that last game against a Chargers team that had nothing to play for. Otherwise we would have the #3 pick.Realistically the only way someone will trying to trade into our spots is if one of the big 3 QBs are still there and they want them.
I agree with that... But also I agree I wouldn't want to move out of the top 8 or 9 if we do trade down... I could see the Raiders even trading up into our spot from 6 to 5 to ensure we don't trade with someone else to leapfrog them and grab the QB they covet...Realistically the only way someone will trying to trade into our spots is if one of the big 3 QBs are still there and they want them.
That's like what the Bears did to get Trubisky. It's one of those moves that makes you a genius if it works, but if it doesn't then you're relentlessly mocked forever.I agree with that... If bears trade with colts, raiders and panthers will be good targets for a trade into 5 and we can play the off eachother for a higher offer.I agree with that... Building for the 2024 is fine as long as they don't have a negative impact on the window of opportunity right now, to make a deep playoff run in 2023, especially if they use high draft picks on defense. For draft capital. Agreed, but I think the defense will likely do better next year with more depth rather than one stud at the top of the draft.Building for the 2024 is fine as long as they don't have a negative impact on the window of opportunity right now, to make a deep playoff run in 2023, especially if they use high draft picks on defense.

very true, but we could end up with a stud interior DL and an edge rusher both in the second roundOne stud lineman doesn't change a defense around. But a stud edge rusher and a stout interior lineman along with guys like Taylor and Mofe and Woolen and Bryant getting better and the defense can start to look a lot of better.
