Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has been fined $100,000 for interfering with a Baltimore Ravens kickoff on Thursday.

The NFL did not fine the Steelers but, because the league said Tomlin's action affected a play on the field, a modification or a forfeiture of draft picks will be considered after the final order of the 2014 NFL Draft is determined.

The NFL could choose to strip the Steelers of a draft pick or move them to the end of a round.

The decision was announced Wednesday by NFL vice president RayAnderson.

I think the fine was too heavy. Yes he was interfering in the play but it didn't really cost any yardage at all. Tomlin was also looking away from the player until the last few seconds, which means he didn't know the player was that close to him until he turned around and he was right there and it was too late by then.

godhell doesn't like the steelers so it will happen

Well he doesn't care for the Pats either. I can understand the fiscal fine and IMO that's a tad steep, but a draft pick is absurd.

Be glad you aren't in the NFCEast or Mara would strip cap space from you as well.

the fine is understandable tomlin took responsibility for so time to move on ...I did hear that james harrison called him and welcomed him to the 100k club though:lol:

It was was obvious that tomlins actions were intentional. He was al grins after the play was over. The officials should also be fined for not throwing a flag.

I think he did affect the play, the runner slowed a bit. I don't think a draft pick should be taken away, but it should be documented that the next time a coach or sideline player affects the play a massive fine will happen and a draft pick WILL be taken away. That is too dangerous.

Now had Baltimore ended up losing because of that play, then the outrage would be more.

At least he didn't take the wimpy way out with, "I just misintepreted the rule".

He said right away that he was in the wrong, I think a fine was warranted and I don't expect he'll fight it.

They said on NFLAM that the fact that the NFL didn't take a draft pick right away might mean that we could lose a late round or compensentory pick....IF that.

Oh come on!!! Tomlin was "watching" the play on the jumbotron. He KNEW where he was and where Jones was running, hell he even looked behind him to see where Jones was. He stepped even further onto the field right before Jones got to him. He cost Jones at least another 15 yards and maybe a TD. I might have believed Tomlin's BS apology if he had kept his eyes up and not moved. Tomlin's only saving grace in all of this is that the Steelers lost. On the field Tomlin should have been called for a 15 yard penalty and been ejected from the game. The fine is appropriate. If they do anything to the draft picks, I'd say nothing before the 5th round. Tomlin should also be removed from the competition committee.

I do remember Cowher saying that. He was too caught up in watching himself on the jumbotron, it happens. Fine is more than enough and I agree no draft picks should be taken.

Tomlin hasn't taken responsibility until he admits it was intentional. It's actually an insult to most people's intelligence that he continues to maintain it was accidental.

LMAO So say's a Ravens fan. Most people seem to be okay with the apology and Tomlin owes no one anything more. Honestly get over yourself.

I don't give a crap what he does, but people giving him some sort of credit for "taking responsibility" is laughable.
