I get the reason why the rule exists (does it still exist, I haven’t seen it called much), because assessing the penalty on the kickoff isn’t much of a deterrent to curb the showboating.

And I was worried it was going to get called on Dexter Williams a couple of times a few weeks ago when he was high stepping into the endzone.

That said, objectively speaking, Grier wasn’t doing anything close to taunting to even suggest the possibility of that type of penalty. Even if warranted, whining about it is a bad look.

He’s basically saying the refs should have bailed him out of his team’s inability to stop the play.

This what Texas always does. They lose, they complain about some little thing. Like putting the football over the goal line, by its front point. Uh, football crosses the imaginary goal line wall, it is a touchdown. I think I have seen that done by around 6,000,000 players in my lifetime.

Now, if he would have stopped at the half yard line, and did a back flip, sure I would penalize that.

Herman is not as much of a jackass as Bill Callahan or Bo Pelini on the sidelines though.
