She wore a yellow ribbon is a war movie more than a western no?

I noticed no Tombstone listed among your modern favorites.

Yellow Ribbon is definitely a "cavalry" movie, not a cowboy flick, but I think it's still a western.

And I have no problem with Tombstone, but there are others I like more.

For me its Unforgiven, Young guns movies and Django Unchained.

Last thing one of my uncles said to be before I died is you make sure you watch Shane. He could not believe I never saw it.

Sorry yoga, man if we start making threads about things that have already been talked about the Hoop is in trouble! :suds:

Meh...all good. I knew we did a thread on this....but I didn't know it was that long ago.

Anyhow...to keep it going..... these were my picks...

How The West Was Won (epic western, superb cast and cinematography by John Ford)
Dodge City (a classic)
Will Penny (underrated )
Tom Horn (steve mcqueen is spot on in one of his last roles)
The Missouri Breaks ( phenomenal film)
Dead Man (one of my faves...with a neil young soundtrack)
High Noon ( Gary Cooper & Grace Kelly....awesome film)

Nobody mentioned Shane...and Clint Eastwood's reboot/homage to Shane, Pale Rider.

There are obviously so many to choose from so i'm not going to be able to put many top westerns on the list. This should be a good one...
