Well I've done most of it (like 90%) but I'm tired now so I'm going to finish it tomorrow. It looks okay. I think I'm going to spray it with glitter to make it even sparklier.

And Indian Princesses do not wear fruit on their hair.

Your fascia is the protective sheath that covers your muscles. When you have Chronic CS, the muscles in your leg swell up from your blood pumping while you exercise and the fascia compresses the muscle and won't budge. The more your blood is pumping, the more swollen the muscle gets and it can't go anywhere because it's being constricted by the fascia. So you get intense burning pain and you lose circulation and get something called "drop foot" (where you can't control your foot because it's not getting any circulation). It feels like someone set your leg on fire. The only thing you can do is stop exercising immediately and wait till your pulse slows back down and all your muscles go back to their normal size.

My surgeon basically said it was like adding water to a dry sponge that's stuck in a small metal cylinder. Does that make sense?

So to fix it, the doctor cut my fascia in both legs from knee to ankle under the skin so that when I exercise and my muscles expand, they can push past the protective sheath and get some breathing room. Kind of like "flaying" something.

Gross, right?

A little gross, yeah. Kind of fascinating, too, though. Not to take my fascinations at your expense, but I now know a lot more about how humans work thanks to that explanation.

And I hope your fascia takes a chill pill.

:yo: good luck with your busy day sir.

Thank you sir. :yo:

You'd probably be interested in how it's diagnosed as well. It's really not that common, in fact, the surgeon I was referred to didn't even believe me. He's a total jerk. So I had to do a test. His office was on the seventh floor. I had to run up and down the stairs to his office until I started to feel the pain in my legs. Then he would immediately stick a needle all the way into my muscle cavity. Past all the skin, past the fascia, directly into the muscle. There was a meter at the end of the needle that calculated how much pressure was in the cavity. It actually beeped and flashed red and my surgeon said "Well! I guess there's no denying it anymore! You DEFINITELY have Chronic CS."

Jerk.

And that test was totally painful too. It was like getting stabbed on purpose after running.

They need a new method...

And I agree about him being a jerk from that account. Of course, I probably would have handled it similarly, because I, too, am a jerk. Just ask my students. :L

Heyo...I'm going to bed early tonight. Was up until 3 am last night, rhinestoning, then passed out and only woke up at 10:40 am and I had to leave for work at 11:25.

Plus I feel like absolute shit right now...thinking about going to bed at 10:30 so I might actually feel good at work tomorrow.

Man I haven't been able to soak in a hockey game for a while. Might head down to watch Wisconsin with my younger cousins pretty soon.
