I never watch basketball...so here's a dumb question.

Why are the college scores so much lower than in the NBA?

NBA doesn't put an emphasis on defense

Which is exactly what I hope about UNCW. I like how everyone is praising Duke for getting four starters to 20+ points. That's NOT Duke's strong-suit. Plus, since they won, this was a "masterfully-coached game by Coack K" but if they had lost "the players just didn't execute for Coach K."

Less skill, but primarily more time on the shot clock and shorter games.

Pretty much, this. NBA players are obvious more skilled, offensive possessions in the college game are typically longer (30 second shot clock compared to 24 second shot clock in the pros. College shot clock used to be even longer at 35 seconds) and the NBA game is longer by eight minutes.
