Hopefully you guys win. The more games we lose, the closer Servais is to be fired and the better our draft position will be.

The fact that I say that shows how much of a disaster our franchise is.

Lol well it’d be nice if your offense stops exploding.

The real test is our offense vs your defense.

Both doing everything they can to let the other win.

How the fuck is Servais even a fucking MLB manager? I just don't get it.

I know this team wasn't built to contend in 2019, but he has objectively made things worse. It's always easy to blame the manager, but I can't recall a time in which the Mariners have had a manager who has caused this much harm on a game-to-game basis.

It would be a lot easier to have sympathy for him if he actually showed some humility and admitted he can do better instead of blaming the players.

Our lineup is capable of scoring 10+ runs in a game one day and scoring 0 the next.

Quicker you get through Kikuchi the better. Our bullpen is god awful and our fielding is just as bad.

Thank god for that 27 pitch inning. Otherwise we wouldn’t ever get through Kikuchi.

We are swinging at everything and usually missing or hitting it 10 feet.

I think you guys are getting this one.

WTF??? I come in from the yard work, turn on the game and what the hell?? Elias is closing out a possible W? Wonders never cease to amaze me. This team just doesn't make any sense at all. Won't even bother to try and figure it out.

How many sentences was that supposed to be? So much punctuation was skipped, couldn't tell if it was one or eleven.

Never mind, I'll just use one sentence to respond:

It's already over.

Damn the grammar police is out and patrolling, what's your badge number brah

With all the complaining thats going on what record did you guys expect to have with this roster entering the season? If you thought we were going to the playoffs then I get it but this was supposed to be a throw away season and people are upset that we actually suck

True, but this where I will always disagree with analytics. It takes something mental to be the closer. Use your best pitcher in the best situations is great on paper. But something about those last 3 outs consistently isn’t about what’s on paper or realistically talent. Mariano Rivera wasn’t anymore talented than 99% of the bullpen arms in his entire era.

They dont have a Rivera, a Diaz, a Putz, an Aarsdma or whatever name you want to use.
My point is I'm glad they rode an arm that was pitching well and showing confidence rather then forcing it on a guy like Swarszak just because you need to dub someone "the 9th inning guy." This pen needs to be managed nontraditional because there isnt much talent there. That's why I'm glad they cut Rosscup, there is no need for Loogy in this pen because you need guys who are somewhat versatile. All I ask for Servais is show he can adapt in certain spots, my bar for him isnt high.

It's just so hard watching Bruce play LF... I'd rather watch our young guys suck rather the veterans...

Couldnt agree with this more. Any AB or time he takes from someone else is a waste. Its what makes things unwatchable most of the time right now.

Lineup has potential to put up some runs. Check
Pitching is bad all around. Check.

That was my expectations. But it doesn't mean people shouldn't/can't complain! If people don't complain, it means they don't care. Which would you rather have? People complaining because they suck or not say anything at all to vent their frustrations because they still follow this team every single game for 9 innings to see them suck?

Your logic about "oh this was supposed to be a throwaway season so who cares" is not wrong, but it doesn't mean those of us who are passionate about this team from the beginning can't complain either. I'm dying for this team to succeed despite whatever expectations we all may have entering the season. The frustration for me is at its highest and I feel like many are feeling the same.

I realize they don’t have one. I was more speaking of the new philosophy that devalues the closer. I do agree with your overall premise of keeping Elias in.

I think the over/under I had for them was 75 or so. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's worse than that so we improve our draft position.

We're complaining because this is an outlet for our frustration with the franchise. I don't think anyone on this forum would say that the team would compete for a playoff spot so this isn't surprising, that doesn't make it any less frustrating.

Unfortunately he's owed $14m in 2019 and another $14m in 2020. They're playing him in the hope that he plays well enough that someone will take on at least a dollar of his contract.

This is the optimist in me speaking and I'm grasping at straws here, but for what it's worth he has 17 home runs and 43 RBIs in his last 61 games going back to 2018. To put that into perspective, that would be 45 home runs and 114 RBIs over a 162 game schedule. Some GM might have some interest in that if we're lucky.

Not saying he should be playing, but giving him ABs is our best hope of moving him.

Didn't see your post before I wrote mine lol, you essentially said the same thing as I did.
