for now. people will have long stopped talking about any of this by the time the draft is here

I don't know about that anymore.

Teams making first round commitments are not as likely to try a guy with numerous issues. Maybe if he had one or two but this guy is making Pacman Jones look like a choir boy.

Image sells and you see what is going on with Adrian Peterson. You draft him are you ready to have groups boycotting your sponsors?

And before people want to point to Cam Newton and Johnny Manziel different issues. Those two looked like they were trying to either make a buck or just have a good time. JW is looking like a thug.

Should Heisman be taken away from Winston?

I say yes. If they can take it away from Reggie Bush then certainly they can take it away from Winston. Heisman people don't put up with this crap.

At this point, if you are an NFL GM... Do you even consider drafting him?

Not me.

GMs will be taking into account the current events surrounding women and their NFL spouses, I have no doubt about this.

The league is only going to get tougher on these incidents.

Is he worth the risk? Will they even honestly care beyond lip service? :noidea:

They put up with fact that he was a suspected rapist when he won last year. They put up with the fact that Cam Newton was kicked out of Florida for theft. They'll put up with this.

Jimbo Fisher said of the incident during Wednesday's ACC teleconference. "You can't make certain statements that are derogatory or inflammatory to any person, race or gender. You have to understand that. You have to be very intelligent about what you say, (because) it matters."

Hey coach..first realize that intelligence is really not his strong suit. :noidea:

We have a golden opportunity and this idiot is throwing it away. Sit his ass down for awhile (2 games) and he'll learn.

No. Reggie Bush (or his family) were guilty of the actions before he won the Heisman. Winston turned out to be guilty after he won Heisman, at least guilty of something that would take away the Heisman.

It has nothing to do with political correctness, but everything to do with money. Star athletes bring huge bucks to their schools. The money to pay the coaches, the university president, and the administrators has to come from somewhere.

I agree. I was just thinking about this because of something one of our local radio guys was saying on my way home from lunch. These athletes are not directly valuable because of their talent, they are valuable because they get people to watch. At the point where your off-the-field issues cost more than you are bringing in with on-the-field talent, that's where you see players get suspended or cut. The Ravens weighed the benefit of having Ray Rice on the field with the negative effect publicity-wise, and determined that the negative attention was not worth the benefit. The Vikings initially thought that AP's on field benefit outweighed the negative off the field stuff, so they said he was going to play, and then the negative backlash was great enough that they had to reconsider.

The difference is that Bush and his family were proven to have violated NCAA rules. If Winston is found guilty of the r*pe, then yes, take his Heisman. Until then, no.

Finally, the point of diminishing returns was reached.

If Tebow was compared to Jesus, in a CFB way, then to what do we compare Winston??

A farm animal wearing a clown wig?
